There's an offer available to fight on April 13th - so how is there cowardice? It's pretty clear that both Wilder and Joshua want to fight. They're fighters. The promoters might be accused of ducking etc, but there's an offer on the table at this moment in time which I'm sure Wilder will sign.Comment

The WBC champion also revealed he took issue with the rematch clause in the contract, which would only apply if Wilder won.
A unification showdown between three-belt world champion Joshua and Wilder has been put on hold after the Brit was ordered to fight Alexander Povetkin by the WBA.

Wilder has reacted furiously to the latest developments and accusations from the Joshua camp that claim the American never had any intention of signing the contract.
Matchroom boss Eddie Hearn believes Wilder was bluffing through-out talks, but the heavyweight champion has dismissed those allegations.
‘It was simple. The two things were simple. How can you send a contract to anybody when you don’t have no date on there?’ Wilder said on ‘The Boxing Voice’ podcast.

‘Nor do you have a venue up in there. He’s sending the contract saying ‘Just sign it’. And then another thing that was up in there was talking about if I beat Joshua he gets a rematch, but if he beats me then it’s up to him to decide if there was a rematch.
‘Nah, it’s either going to [both of us having rematch clauses] or none at all. There is going to a rematch or no rematch at all. It’s crazy.
‘How you going to send a contract like that? It was simple things that they could not answer. It ain’t that they couldn’t, it’s that they wouldn’t.Comment

I don't get people who are posting stuff like this. Yeah it's understandable to be p*ssed off that the fight isn't next, but it's not as if Joshua is ducking, it's a clear case of building the drama and building the fight.

What do you mean he didn't want it yet? How is the situation going to change by waiting for 7 months? Wilder's not going to age significantly in 7 months not is Joshua going to rapidly improve.
I honestly think that the money men have advised the fight needs to be built up more, the fighters want to fight but the teams behind them want to make themselves rich - which they will, as always.Comment

I think everybody saw this coming. The positioning didn’t seem to be that that was the next fight wanted. Nothing wrong with AJ having one more to develop against a durable Povetkin and then they’ll fight. Hearn is by far my favorite promoter bc he’s just hilarious, but they look pretty bad here with getting the offer from Wilder. Then turning down that offer and making their own. Then Wilder accepting. I don’t look much into the mandatory. If a mandatory for either guy was a certainty, they never would’ve gotten that far into negotiations. There could’ve been step aside money for Povetkin. The “honorable” Ryabinsky probably greased the wheels a bit to keep the mandatory in place. Wouldn’t blame him. One last big payday for Povetkin while he gets blasted out and then the organizations get lambasted for further seemingly wanting to avoid unification.Comment

Because Hearn is set on discouraging Wilder from even considering the initial fight......Every other lesser opponent was easily made for AJ. The Wilder fight? "very, very frustrating.".....because Hearn is very very scared of losing his money train......The fear factor is real.Comment

Why should wilder sign an offer for a fight that won't happen till next April. Wilder and his team should tell AJ and Hearn to **** off right now and they could talk after they each have their next fight. This was Hearn's plan all along, to have Wilder sign a contract with no date and claiming that the venue won't be available till next year so that in the mean time they could have an interim fight, while hoping Hearn could have Wilder fight on DAZN his next fight. Team Wilder would be ****** to sign a contract write now for that flat fee when the fight will be worth more next year.Comment
