Last thing (for now) I'll say on this topic because this whole thing is too ****** for me to believe. Shannon Briggs is a never-was; his claim to fame was a robbery decision over an old George Foreman which made him the lineal champion and a gutsy showing aganist Lennox Lewis.

That's it. That's all there is.

Since then, he's lost to substandard fighters and recycled more tomato cans than your local environmental freaks. The Ray Mercer he beat was pushed to the ring in a wheel chair, so I don't know why some of you are making a big deal out of that. (in fairness, Ray was old when Wlad beat him, too, though)

Shannon Briggs reason for being recognized was neighborhood clout and an okay amateur career. Tyson and Bowe came from Brownsville, so Shannon looked prominsing and got signed up; but the fact is he couldn't carry Bowe's jockstrap....and that's saying something.

Only a fool would bet on Shannon Briggs to win any, and I mean ANY BIG fight. He doesn't win the big one....he chokes, falls just short, runs out of gas, gives up, get's stopped, has an asthma attack, or is simply outclassed. He hasn't earned this title shot through achievement; but merely by hanging around for so long that it's kind of a "here's a nice paycheck for you Shannon...don't get hurt" kind of thing.

Shannon's a nice guy, I'm sure; and any man who steps through those ropes deserves respect for putting it on the line; but he's not now, nor never was in Wladimir Klitschko's league....or any man who has ever ranked in the Top 5. Briggs is good enough to be a contender, a journeyman, and a trial horse for young contenders; but that's it. The man got a gift when he held the lineal title 'cause the man's not a champion....and never will be as long as a quality fighter is defending the belt.

The only thing I can figure about all this ****** hype around Briggs is people being blown away by him blowing away guys that you've never heard of because they had no rep coming into the Briggs fight....kind of like Tyson at 18 & 19 when he was knocking over ham-n-eggers on his way to contenders. Woooo, what a knock-out?! Yeah! BUT OVER WHO?!!

Pathetic, really. Birggs ought to be taking on up and comers, so they can prove their wares; but instead, somehow, he's getting a shot at the title.

Well, if you bet on Briggs, make sure you can afford to lose it...'cause you will.

They're gonna have to take Briggs to the hospital after this fight in order to get Wlad's foot outta his ass.

Even though the black man was detoured the other black man(Lewis). Shannon Briggs has made his comeback. It seems to me that the rest really eased Briggs. In his comeback, he has scored knockouts in all nine of his fights.

against who though...NOBODIES!!! Briggs is out of his element with Wlad...and I don't think this fight will happen

No way Wlad will win within 4 rounds, will not happen... Briggs is a muscle machine Wlad will respect Briggs power and try and knock him out in the mid-late rounds. Wlad knows how bad his chin is and he wouldn't be foolish enough to go for the KO this early, people that predict Wlad KO in 2 know absolutely nothing about heavyweight boxing.

He will respect the power, I agree, but Briggs's only chance is to score an early KO. If he tries to rush in and gets caught flush, then I can see a second round KO. But Wlad will be careful enough so that it wont end that early.

Ray Mercer had an incredible chin in his prime, he took monsterous shots off Lewis in their fight, without showing much hurt. Wladimir, Briggs, or anyone else, would not have stopped a prime Ray Mercer.
