    Revisiting Morales vs Barrera 1

I like to revisit fights to score and compare them to the orginal scorecards.

Just as great of a fight as a remembered. Below is my scorecard.

The 5th was a very close round but I believe Morales did the better work. Close but no cigar.

The 7th round Morales tempo took the round and the shot MAB landed at the end wasn't enough and I think there was just a few seconds left. I don't believe in Boxers stealing a round at the end if they land a decent shot. You got to hurt your man to undo all that work (if applicable).

I scored the 9th round even. I thought Morales outworked Barrera, but Barrera's power shots can't be ignored. I would need to watch this in slo-motion to find a definitive winner. Not even sure that would help, thus 10/10.

In the 12th and final round the knockdown was an erroneous call. The slo-motion replay clearly shows the punch missing and going over Morales head. Barrera kicked ass that round, but you got to get a legitimate knockdown to get a 10-8.

    Original Scorecard:
    Chuck Giampa 116-112
    Mike Glienna 115-113
    Duane Ford 115-113

I find it funny that a lot of people don't know these fights, MAB.Morales or Carbajal.Gonzalez but they slurp on Gatti.Ward.

True dat! You gotta throw in Corrales vs Castillo 1. Definitely one of the best fights ever with one of the most insane endings as well.

Ward gatti was a legit war...I can't hate on that. Speaking of carbajal gonzalez...gonzalez vs sorjaturong was a classic from that era as well.

Good call! In hindsight, Carbajal's mullet makes some of those fights all-time classics regardless of how great those fights were. Early 90s ruled.

Sure they went to war, I wouldn't refer to it as legit for any reason but Gatti was a shot b-level (maybe even c-level) and Ward was a legit bum.

If Gatti killed himself, I bet losing to Ward had something to do with it.

I watched Gatti do his thing against Patterson, Robinson, and Manfredy all live. Losing to Manfredy, jeesh thats bad.

But yea, big Carbajal fan. The guy did good work in there.

I +1'd you for that Bundy AV. Classic!

A good fight is a good fight...but yea, it wasn't contested on the level of morales barrera. That's why I give the edge to morales barrera 1 over castillo corrales 1 as well.
