If boxing switched to MMA gloves, MMA weight classes, & MMA rounds

Would you be more or less interested?

    For those unaware:
    • MMA gloves are 4oz gloves ... there's almost no padding except for in the knuckles (they also have open fingers although that's n/a for boxing).
    • MMA bouts last three 5-minute rounds for non-championship fight, or five 5-minute rounds for championship fights.
    • MMA weight classes are 135, 145, 155, 170, 185, 205, HW
    • MMA trunks are just regular shorts

The smaller gloves remove much of the parrying/blocking and encourage more action and perhaps favor more offensive fighters.

The lesser number of rounds could put a premium on action, with less wasted feeling-out time available. Stink-them-up type fights would be over sooner. Longer rounds might put a premium on conditioning.

Many complain about too many weight classes in boxing. This would get rid of many of the lower weight classes, where there are only a few pounds to move up in weight, etc. This would remove some of the historically important divisions though.

Many boxing trunks are ridiculous, going up far above their belly buttons. While we're at it, require normal shorts.

all in all, I would be in favor of this switch for the above reasons - shorter fights, but with much more action

Nope, boxing is fine how it is.

You forgot 125 weight class, and HW has a limit of 265 pounds I believe.

Weight classes? Sure I'd like to see less in boxing, too many at the lower weigh spectrum.

Gloves? Nah, boxers punch much harder and the gloves protect their assets - their hands from breaking. More injuries = less fights

If Boxers wore those gloves, the death toll would skyrocket. -1 for being a mongoloid.

We would see a lot more brain damage.

Definitely not MMA gloves, but I would like to see lighter gloves in boxing, yes.

The gloves are perfectly fine, thank you.

As for the rounds, that is fine at 3 x 12 as well (though I'd prefer 15)

MMA and boxing are different sports using different rules and technique in a different environment.

What is so difficult for some people to understand about that?

Fights would frequently be canceled due to hand injuries.
