Comments Thread For: Jacobs vs. Derevyanchenko: IBF Orders Purse Bid For July 5

The IBF ordered a purse bid Monday for the Sergiy Derevyanchenko-Daniel Jacobs fight for its vacant middleweight title. Lou DiBella, Derevyanchenko's promoter, asked the IBF to call for the purse bid because he hasn't made progress on a deal with Eddie Hearn, Jacobs' promoter. If DiBella and Hearn can come to an agreement before the purse bid, scheduled for July 5 at the IBF's headquarters in Springfield, New Jersey, it'll be canceled.

Looks like Jacobs/Hearn are playing the A-card. So much for SD/DiBella being easy to negotiate with & would take what he could get. I'm doubting this fights gets made unless SD takes much less than 50/50, the IBF will then go to the next available which would be Andrade. Nothing saying he will take it either though since he didn't last year. Murray would be up next who I originally thought would be the case. Even he may still be negotiating with BJS though & this payday would be for much less. Think he might still take the IBF opportunity if given since SD matches up with his style much better than Saunders does & probably gives him a better shot at finally winning an elusive belt. IF not Murray, can anyone see the IBF being fought over by two no names? Think this very well may turn into one huge cluster fk.

Golovkin gave Jacobs 40% of the money. He can't complain now.

Honest question, what exactly has Hearn done with Jacobs since he has tarted to promote him? He keeps saying he will make fighters stars in the states, but Jacobs profile hasn't risen one bit since to move to Hearn/HBO. Was it a promise to get him the GGG rematch or a fight with Canelo?

The order was made June 11 but Derevyanchenko promoter Lou DiBella and Jacobs promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Boxing have gotten nowhere and DiBella on Monday sent the IBF a letter saying he would not participate in negotiations and asked for an immediate purse bid, which is allowable under IBF rules. On Monday, the IBF scheduled a purse bid for July 5 at 12 p.m. ET in its offices in Springfield, New Jersey. The fighters, who are both managed by Keith Connolly, would each receive 50 percent of the winning bid. They could still make a deal up to 15 minutes before the bids are unsealed. It’s a fight HBO, which has Jacobs under contract, is very interested in."

Does this fight actually happen? Aren't they pretty much like family? I was under the impression this was the case.
