    Khalil Coe Future Superstar

If you guys weren't following the Chemistry Cup amateur tournament in Germany, then you probably have no idea who this guy is. But let me tell you right now, he is the going to be a superstar in the 2020 Olympics if he stays amateur that long. He just upset and stopped 2016 MW Olympian champion Julio Cesar La Cruz from Cuba....IN HIS 25TH AMATEUR FIGHT. That is unreal, he is still a pup in the amateur ranks and he just stopped a gold medalist. In fact, he got a stoppage win in the semi-finals as well. Coe seems very strong for his weight class and has nice countering ability. He's going to be one of those boxer-punchers that could put your lights out. Still a bit raw in some areas, but that is expected from a 19 year kid with only 25 amateur bouts. A lot of American Olympians or prospects get good hype, but some of them just lack that explosive ability to really shine. Well, Coe is not one of those guys. Seems like a nice kid who has his head in the right place. Expecting greatness from Coe, and you should as well!

If anyone is interested, here are his fights from the tournament over the last week.

Yeah been watching the Chemistry Cup, Props to Khalil Coe and Richard Torrez Jr. on their Gold Medal Wins. Keyshawn Davis shouldn't won Gold as well but was flat out ROBBED vs Lazaro Alvarez

Coe had the slickness and the quickness to match Julio Cesar La Cruz and La Cruz Showboating Style Cost Him as Coe caught him with a beautiful RIGHT! Ref called it a little early but it took him until 7 to get up and he still looked out of it.

Torrez Finals win and Keyshawn Davis Robbery match was taken down ironically!

How to post a video link like you did?

Yeah, Coe had slickness to match Cruz and was just physically stronger. In a 12 round fight you could tell he would have just worn La Cruz down until he stopped him. And I don't think in the pros the ref calls that fight off. Still, La Cruz was surprised from the start that Coe was able to catch him a few times and make him miss. Still just amazed he was able to do that against that type of opponent in only 25 amateur fights. HWs tend to have success in low amount of fights, but you don't see it often with guys in the WW or MW division.

Keyshawn Davis is going to be a stud as well. I agree he should have gotten the nod. It's really amazing what Billy Walsh has been able to do with the US amateur program in such a short time. The US amateur system was becoming a joke and he completely changed it. And it helped with the no headgear rule and body shots counting as a lot of the US fighters had a pro style compared to fighters from other countries.

Torrez is pretty explosive and is a good counter puncher. But man he has a small frame. He is like Andy Ruiz in that sense. He may be better off fighting at CW, but at 230 pounds, don't see that happening.

Coe sure back peddled a lot in that fight. He would spend some time 10 feet away from his opponent. I don't like that. If he is so good he will kick ass in the pros and I will follow him then.

In the finals? I think he backed up at times to have La Cruz come to him. But Coe is a physical fighter usually. He's going in there to box but hurt you if he has the chance to do so.

Sicko, is Coe's plans to go pro after the 2020 Olympic games or what? Not much on this kid and he doesn't even have a profile on the US Olympic boxing site ffs! I definitely think he should get more experience in the amateur games and stay until the Olympic games come around in two years. No need to rush it.

La Cruz didn't respect him and that was an early stoppage.

La Cruz fights like that vs everyone. Dude also like a lot of these Cuban amateur greats doesn't have the greatest of whiskers. That punch that Coe baited him in with was textbook. But that stoppage was definitely early. La Cruz isn't a kid, he's a grown man. Let him go there.
