The WBA had actually ordered Lara and Hurd to take part in a rematch. Hurd was planning to file for an exception to take another fight.

why would hurd do that for? kinda dumb if you ask me I guess he knows the fight was close dont wanna take any more chances but im quite surprised....

Obviously, with Hurd being out, Jermell-Lara is probably the best fight that can be made at 54. But personally, I’d like to see Jermell’s stablemate Errol Spence take a crack at Lara. And see Jermell fight the Munguia kid that whipped up on Ali. Especially if they did it all on the same card in Dallas. That would do big business.

Hurd's pressure got to Lara and he had no other choice than to trade. Lara will be his usual self, unless Charlo can find a way to force Lara to trade.

Obviously, Hurd’s pressure combined with Lara’s aging legs forced Erislandy to stand and fight more than he probably wanted to. But I also think that Hurd is so easy to hit, it kinda sucks guys into fire fights with him. All fighters like landing punches. Even defensive, safety first guys like Lara enjoy landing clean shots. And when you do it as easily as he was able to do it against Hurd, its almost a natural instinct to be braver than he probably should have been.

Lara is a bad style matchup for Jermell Charlo. Jermell really struggled with Jackson who was giving him movement.

That's true, but it's also why he should take it. That's how you bring a guy up, you give him incremental challenges. The Trout win wasn't impressive but it was good for him. It would probably be the same with Lara but it would give him more seasoning in handling skilled fighters.
