" There's a reason why there's only one fighter in boxing that sells pay-per-view - and that's 'Canelo' Alvarez."

Oscar is not fooling anyone. If Canelo was such a mega star, he would not have bent over backwards to get GGG in the ring again.

He knows Canelo needs a popular dance partner to sell well now. That is why Spike O' Sullivan was not served to the masses on a platter. PPV is dying a sure death. People are expecting this rematch to do better than 1.3 million the first one did? Not a chance. Cut that number in half. Canelo, GGG and the fight itself has lost luster.

Wilder was under GBP for some years. what did Oscar did with him? should ask him that next time.

In the history of PPV you can count all the big attractions on one hand. it's not a failure if a guy doesn't become a PPV star that sht is so rare.

Crawford has a promoter but people still tell him to act a certain way to attract fans. Isn't that Arum's job?

That promoter sht made sense in the 1950's. not no more.

besides Canelo who is there as an example? exactly nobody else.

maybe canelo wants to fight 3g very badly. he could have gone the ''vanes'' route, make 15 mil and save 3g for may 2019.

Spence has been a pro for 6 years roughly so lets look at a side-by-side comparison of 6 years in the pro game for Spence aand Oscar.

          Oscar De La Hoya:
          Jorge Paez
          John John Molina
          Rafael Ruelas
          Genaro Hernandez
          Jesse James Leija
          Julio Cesar Chavez 2x
          Miguel Angel Gonzalez
          Pernell Whitaker
          Hector Camacho
          Wilfredo Rivera

          Errol Spence Jr.
          Chris van Heerden
          Chris Algieri
          Kell Brook
          Lamont Peterson

Spence turned pro late at 22 and is 28 now so lets flash forward to who else Oscar fought by the time he was 28.

          Ike Quartey
          Oba Carr
          Felix Trinidad
          Shane Mosely
          Arturo Gatti
          Castillejo

It's pretty clear Spence is being mishandled. The reason why Oscar is a legend is because he had a good promoter that made great fights. Spence has a few years left before he starts declining.

good post, in todays boxing if you fight the least risk and high reward (money) type of fight, you are smart and extremely talented. Why take punishment or even bother fighting real threats when you can easily fool your people.

Don't just use spence compare him to GGG, Loma, Crawford , AJ, Charlo, Mickey, Thurman, Garcia, Porter, any of today's boxers.

                Oscar had two points.

#1 - You need a promoter to be a PPV star.

#2 - Canelo is the only PPV star.

Which begs the question, if promoters are how you become a PPV star, and hundreds of fighters are signed to promoters, why is there only one PPV star?

If Oscar is so good at creating PPV stars, why does he only have one?

If Haymon's fighters are making way more than any of Oscar's fighters other than Canelo, and are way bigger stars than Oscar's other fighters, is it possible Canelo is a fluke and Spence & Wilder would be earning less with Golden Boy?

Odlh would put him on the canelo undercards. Mexicans would watch him and fall in love with his style of fighting. Can you imagine spence coming out with a Sombrero and mexican colors? Dude would become a star quick.

He's been calling Thurman out for years. He's been calling DSG and Porter out. Ocampo was a mandatory. Garcia could've fought him instead of Peterson since he sat out a year. Hard to fight good competition if they're scared. We all know how Bob feels about him and Crawford. Anything else it's a cherry pick. It sucks to be a dog in boxing lol

He has got a manager, Al Haymon, he just doesn’t call him a manager because Al don’t want nothing to do with the Ali rule, he’s got his own rules. Spence is right that as long as he has Al doing matchmaking and contracts and basically a mix of promoting and managing he doesn’t need Hearn or Arum. But hold on is that allowed I hear you ask? Well it is if you just call yourself an ‘advisor’ apparently.
