The likeable, skillful welterweight is an emerging star who's in his physical prime and knocks out opponents. Spence appreciates their interest, but the undefeated IBF 147-pound champion simply isn't interested in making a contractual commitment to a promoter.

He's doing well for himself, can never be benched like Arum did Mickey, and doesn't have to give away a cut to someone who doesn't really add to his pockets either.

Btw promoter are the reason that the big fights don't happen. Look what promoter eddie hearn is doing right now
Very very true!!! Anyone with sense and being honest knows what this is all about! WHAT ITS ALWAYS ABOUT!

And nobody was following him on social media before he signed with Golden Boy. Canelo is younger then Spence and already a huge PPV star. Floyd before going on his own was already built and headlining PPV's because of Top Rank. So there is still a huge benefit of having a promoter at least until you are already a star fighter. For example if he had a promoter he would of long been headlining and fighting in his home town. Instead not having a promoter only 1 of his pro fights before sat were in dallas and only 4 times period in the state of Texas. No consistent promoter meant his fights were literally scattered randomly with no plan to 1 off promoters in different cities. Hard to build a buzz and fanbase that way.
Yet he sold more tickets to his last fight than Garcia and got better ratings on a much smaller platform.

Social media following isn't the end all. Since his fight this past weekend Spence has been on a media tour. Step away from social media and you'd hear him on the radio and seen him on TV.

          DING DING DING DING DING.

That's it right there. They claim they want a black fighter who doesn't talk trash and act "******". But as soon as Ward decided to be his own man and leave his promoter they turned on him. Haymon's model created the most successful boxer of all time. And at the time nobody thought Floyd would be a PPV star.

Great job Spence, you don’t need snakes to interfere with your career, this is the reason we can’t get the Fights that the fans want to see because of guys like BoB Arum and Slick Eddie!!!!

Man Down Promotions was on the marquee for his fight this past weekend, with Spence already looking at folks that he can hopefully help get put on and selling his own merch at the concession stand.

It's going to be on him to keep up his end and keep winning, but he's pretty much set to have his fiefdom set in Dallas, just like the Charlo brothers in Houston, Deontay Wilder in Alabama, GRJ and Tank out of Maryland, etc.

New York, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and a couple other cities are common markets for everyone, but even then, the feature guys are being cut in on the back-end money.

Terence Crawford is a really good fighter, and hopefully those Top Rank guarantees are good for him, but you can see the difference in the situations when he's put in front of the general public and can't say **** about who he wants to fight, since folks know that he doesn't make that call.

Pretty evident the Al Haymon model hasn't worked, some of these fighters need to realize a good promoter can actually provide value for money.
Tom Brown or Lou DiBella run the day-to-day for Spence's events, but Man Down Promotions is still sitting down, at the table after the event, splitting up the proceeds, lol.

Spence has the relationship with Showtime, Spence seems to have firmed up his relationship with the Jones family and Dallas (nothing's been confirmed, but CTG of the Breakfast Club made a quip about buying out the venue, and there's an article online basically saying the same thing, with Jones apparently needing to sell 9000 tickets [with ringside seats going for $700] to cover what he laid out to host the Spence fight), and he's been TV friendly and engaging when put in front of the general public.

What could a promoter do for Spence at this point, earnestly?

He's 28 and got 5 good years left before he declines. He's fighting two scrubs a year and if he starts stepping it up he'll be fighting once a year. Basically, 5-10 fights left before he's on the decline and if he does 10, no way those are threats. 5 scrubs and 5 names.

Yea, doing great dude. But really, Spence needs a promoter.
So...under Top Rank or Golden Boy, what great names would be on Spence’s resume right now??? Brooks was considered by many to be the best welterweight in the world when Spence fought him. And Peterson has never been an easy fight for anyone outside of Matthyse. Outside of Canelo and Manny, who both have countries behind them, what PPV stars have either Arum or Oscar built up??? And honestly, how can either promoter make Spence any bigger without having other good welterweights under their banner??? Is Terrence Crawford a superstar??? He’s promoted by Arum, right? How did his ppv numbers do??? He’s fighting at welterweight now, but what legit opponents are there??? So what can Top Rank honestly do for him or Spence??? Name a black fighter that Golden Boy has made a ppv star. Better yet, name just one successful black fighter under the Golden Boy banner. Both Arum and Oscar are big right now because their top fighters are supported by their entire country. If Canelo gets knocked out, Golden Boy gets ko’d too. When Manny retires, Top Rank goes down hill as well. Lomo is great but will never be a ppv star. And how long will Crawford stay with Arum now that he’s fighting at 147??? All the other legit welterweights are with PBC and Showtime. 5 years from now, both promotional companies will be irrelevant like Don King.

AJ BXNG is already at the table for Joshua, and Matchroom Sport still has their exclusive deal with Sky Sports (which Sky hasn't broken for anyone yet).

Maybe they break their agreement for an independent Anthony Joshua, but the current deal is that Matchroom Sport gets you to Sky Box Office, and Joshua is happy to work with Eddie Hearn.
