Exactly and imo that’s what’s going to hold up this fight. They see past stars, Pacquiao, Maywesther and Cotto, and see what they made when they fought each other and they are going to think they deserve the same pay if they fight each other.

Crawford and Spence are great fighters and their hometowns love them. But they are not even a 1/4 as popular among the regular population in the US as a Pacquiao or a Cotto who both arent American.

It's interesting to see how many people get mad at Spence for saying this yet were fine when Bob said the PPV had to sell at least 500k before he'd consider making it.

Worse, is when posters such as Illmatic94 bring up Hearns and Leonard unifying as part of their criticism of Spence.

Spence has defended his title twice. Crawford just won the belt. Hearns defended his title 4 times before unifying with Ray. Leonard had 5 title fights (including Duran rematch) before he unified with Hearns.

I think Crawford and Spence, even though they are older than ray and Hearns, should be allowed to build the fight same as them.

Given this, it is reasonable that Crawford defends against mando and has an optional.Spence unifies with Crawford/Porter winner and makes an optional. then they fight.

This is one of those fights where each fighter deserves $25 million.

          It's not criticism. It's facts.

If this fight does even close to 500K I'll eat my words but that number is such fantasy i don't see it. the Ward-Kovalev flops showed me that.

hell we give Golovkin constant sht for doing 150K against Lemeiux.

I even said I hope it does great success but as a fan who the fck wants to wait? not me.

those numbers are only possible when the casual and non boxing fans buy the hype. Hardcore boxing heads for the most part don't buy sht. Crawford-Postol is more proof of that.

I mean I don't understand how a fan can support stalling a fight as if that makes it better.

At this very moment Spence and Bud are the clear #1 and #2 at welterweight. Thurman is irrelevant right now and has turned into a meme. I could care less if he comes back or not.

so why not see the top guys clash right now?

What would you advise them to do for people to like them? I mean nobody can accuse them of being "boring" like Floyd (ironically the most paid mofo in history.)

            So what's missing?

I understand what you're saying but you used Ward v. Kovakev as an example. Ward couldn't even crack 10k in attendance in Oakland and never did good TV ratings. He just wasn't very popular in general.

Postol was a nobody and had no shot against Crawford. We all knew that.

I think this fight is different. I could see 500k if these guys do their part and they seem to be willing based on their behavior this week l.

Crawford is IMO the best P4P in the world. However, he hasn't had to fight a top level WW yet. Spence, who I think is a top 5-7 p4p in the world did defeat Brook, but followed that with Petersen and Occampo, guys that weren't highly rated.

Between the 2 of them, they've beaten Horn, Brook, Petersen and Occampo at ww. I think there are far better ww's then them that Spence and Crawford could make great fights with and prove they are the best WW's.

If you go back to Hearns Leonard they were both seen as the best as well, but they still fought top guys and eliminated them to erase any doubt.

I think Spence and Crawford doing same makes their fight a definitive fight for top ww, same as Hearns/Leonard 1.

Ideally Crawford would fight Manny and Spence would fight thurman in BIG fights that would organically create an EVENT fight between Spence and Crawford. Since Manny is scared and Thurman is "hurt" (also scared) this will not happen.

This is getting out of hand. They are not about to fight this year. It’s possible they don’t even fight next year. Boxing is more business now. It is what it is. I hope they can fight and it be a trilogy. That’ll make them big stars. Floyd had to beg and beg to get to de la Hoya and Ren he took off from there. PAC had Marquez as a rival and destroyed De La Hoya and then he took off from there as well. They don’t have that De La Hoya to fight. They would’ve had to beat Floyd for the casual fan to jump on board. Not happening so they r going a different route. Good luck.
