    Does boxing need referees?

Honestly so many of the refs nowadays seem like they have down syndrome or something. Was rewatching Calzaghe's fights and remembered how terrible the refs were. Just happened with Granados/Fortuna. Get a kangaroo to ref and it would stop fights more accurately than Howard Foster. Ray Charles could catch more low blows than Laurence Cole ever could. These incompetent refs should either be fired or fined so they'll actually take their jobs seriously.

Yeah. Well more ppl need to apply for state judging licenses and actually learn whats going on and then after a while theyll let you be ref and then go from there.

I know OP is not serious but the answer is yes boxing needs referees, it needs competent incorruptible referees. Tall task.

Many referees are really bad at their job. Too many of them are very old and very fat. A referee should be reasonably fit to do a good job. Especially in a 10 or 12 round fight.
