And both fighters have talked about fighting the other but they know it makes more sense to build the fight because it’s not as big as it can be right now.

Yeah, this is like a lesser version of Ward/Kovalev, which was at least two guys with big reputations among casual boxing fans. Crawford and Spence are nobodies. It's a hardcore fan's dream, but wouldn't sell anything like a mega fight.

Even GGG v Canelo is still more of a fans fight than casuals really. It had a bit of crossover but not much. Neither are notable figures in worldwide popular culture like Floyd or McGregor or people like that. Canelo might be among Mexicans, but that's it.

It's very hard to get to that level where your involved in super fights that attract the average man on the street. It takes a lot of ingredients to make that happen, so it very very rarely does.
The problem is fighting 3 times a year doesn't cut it. 5-6 times is a must to become a star today due to social media.

who needs to promote themselves? this is a sport, entertainment is good but its good to also see fighters who just simply want to fight and take their craft serious, ggg does nothing to promote himself, neither does canelo or pac man and everyone loves them not sure why it must be different for these fighters.

No, just no. I hate to say it, but Crawford is better than the older flat-footed ward. And I think Kovalev has a much better jab than Spence and better combos than Spence

Bob Arum won’t make it until it reaches 500k PPV buys. That’s not happening unless the fighters promote themselves. Self promotion does not have to be ignorant and negative.

Andre Ward did boxing commentary on HBO and Fox Sports, had the Jordan brand promo going, was seen at Warriors games, etc.

It will be every bit as big as Bradley-Alexander. What was it.... 800 tickets sold?
