Did anyone just check out the new Arum Interview on BT? In it, he says all the same things Ive been saying but him & G added a couple of things I didnt know.
Heres what he said that Ive been saying. He says about Floyd that theres not enough money in a Baldy fight and it wont be on PPV like he wants, he says that Cotto or Hatton wont fight Floyd next, and therefore it will be down to Margarito & the Vargas-Mosley winner.
Here's what he said that I didnt know. He said that he's already talked to the Vargas camp and there not interested in a Floyd fight. Also the other day G made a good point by saying that if Vargas wins then they will probally fight a 3rd time. Arum also said that if Mosley wins then he will have to fight Floyd just 12 weeks later and thats not enough time for Shane and it would be a rush to put a good PPV together. He also made a good point by saying that Shane would probally come out of the Vargas fight with some bumps and bruises that will need time to heal so its unlikely that he would fight Floyd just 12 weeks later. He also said that there is no way that Oscar would match his 8 mil for Mosley. G also said that the Mosley camp has said that they wont fight anymore this year.
Something Arum did say that kind of upset me, and that was he didnt really answer G when he was asked, would Floyd have to sign on to some more fights with Top Rank down the road to fight Margarito?
You know Floyd's not going to want to do that. There was one thing that Arum said at the end and its the same thing that I made a thread about the other day. He said that Floyd is dissapointed in not getting the Oscar fight and he phsycologicaly has to recover from that.
Heres what I said the other day and remember that it was before Oscar's announcment. To update it after Oscar's announcment, I will say that Floyd will still be down since its so far off and it puts him in a ****ed up situation if you look at all the other options he has. The Margarito option is probally the best one but now look at the differnce. If Oscar had never led him on then he couldve took the Margarito fight with no questions but if you go by what Arum is saying now, he will probally make Floyd try to sign a contract saying that he owes Arum 2 or 3 more fights and Floyd's not going to want to do that. Arum will want him to now because Floyd has left him and he knows that Floyd will be making big money in the future. If Arum does that then I could see Floyd saying **** it and fighting Spinks on PPV in St. Louis if he wins. Heres what I wrote.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
I think the Margarito fight will happened but Im actually getting worried about Floyd now and mainly his next fight, no matter who it is. Floyd has been chasing Oscar forever for that big money fight and all the fame it will bring. I think he got to the point where he thought he might never get it. Then he finaly got in the perfect position. Everything lined up and it looked like it was happening. Now it probally wont. I think that may be depressing for him. It wouldve been better if Oscar never led him on. Floyd wouldve took the 8mil to fight Margarito and wouldve been happy. Now, the 8mil seems like 1 mil when you compare it to the over 20 something he was going to make from the Oscar fight and all the fame he wouldve got that wouldve meant bigger money for his future fights. Thats hard to recover from. He'll have to fight atleast 3 times to makeup what he wouldve made. Maybe traning and everything else gets harder. I could see him looking ****ty in his next fight but I think he'll be ok because Oscar hasnt made his retirment official, so Floyd will still think he has a chance.
