  • Comments Thread For: Anthony Yarde: That Stage I'm at Now - I Don't Need No One

Unbeaten Anthony Yarde insists he is happy with his progression as he continues his path through the Light-Heavyweight division. Next up on June 23rd, 'The Beast' takes on Dariusz Sek, the first southpaw he has faced in his amateur and professional career. Headlining York Hall for the first time back in February, 'The Beast' continued his knockout streak when stopping Tony Averlant.

If you just want to make a good living, you don't need anyone, you are already making money fighting hand-picked opponents. That's true. But if you want to prove yourself as an elite boxer, or one of the best of your era, or if you want to see how good you are, then sooner or later, you definitely need a handful of top opponents.

But, you are entitled to your own priorities, and your own journey. Good luck on it, Anthony! Wishing you the best.

Clever man. Take time to grow. No use clamouring for the top prematurely. Eubank Jr could learn a thing or two from this young man. Learn. Crawl, then walk. In two years time, start knocking off the older guys, one by one, reaping that experience. By 30, you become one of the best. Don't compare yourself to the likes of Bivol, because you're not the same.

      This is humility and confidence.

Being confident is understood, but it's sounded in recent interviews as if he's believing the press stories about him a bit too much lately. A bit overly presumptuous. And he is obviously in an extremely tough division.

The guy is obviously talented, but he will hit a wall eventually, and IMO won't get past all the top LHWs without a defeat or two. But for now I guess it's best to enjoy the ride... just don't enjoy it too much. Else that McCallum/Curry moment can sneak up on you in a flash.

If this is how they want his career to progress then fine but I’m not watching him fight cans anymore. I’ll be surprised if I watch any of his fights until he takes an actual step up.

The fact they're still matching Anthony Yarde so lopsidedly makes it obvious he has limitations. His next opponent has a 29% KO percentage and no decent wins. Yet another eastern European to tee off on.

                I've heard he's packing glass...

Frank really needs to start stepping him up soon. Plenty to pick from domestically.

Thats the biggest thing about him, he feels ok fighting cans. He doesn;t seem to want to question his trainer (Tunde) or his promoter (Frank), he is comfortable doing this until he sees a free belt somewhere. I cannot iamgine his team turning down the idea of him fighting Buatsi after their next fights. He would be 35-0 before he steps up anything.
