    That was pretty cowardly.
So if he would have made Derevy an offer like a flat fee of $150K would that have made him not a coward? And if Derevy did not accept would that hence make him a coward?

We have no idea though if he would have accepted the fight had he been offered. Jacobs said he would fight Canelo, then he got the offer and he deemed it crap.

There is more to boxing than just saying I'll fight. Derevy would have got a pretty crappy offer. He might have not taken it and it wouldn't have made him a coward nor would it have been necessarily fair or unfair.

People need to get over this coward BS.

His manager said he was ready and willing.

What people need to do is stop blaming Canelo for Golovkin's choice of Vanes.

sure, the Vanes pick was garbage. But Derevs manager is Kevin Connely, the same guy who manages Jacobs.

Even if Derev was willing to fight, to think that a deal could have been reached with Connelly on short notice is pure fantasy.

Connelly would have argued for 3 weeks just about what size the logos on the poster should be. NO WAY you make a fight with him on short notice......

I am just happy as hell he is fighting Canelo next. That's the fight I wanted for both boxers and it's the fight that makes both of them the most money. It was the obvious fight and no other fight made sense for either man. The IBF striped him. So What? Who really cares? Now Jacobs will fight a guy with 12 pro fights for the IBF world title. Will any fans consider the winner of that fight the true middleweight champion of the world over and above the winner of GGG vs Canelo? I doubt it. GGG is the real middleweight champion of the world until another middleweight beats him in the ring or retires. It doesn't matter who strips him.

Didn't say he wasn't. But saying you are and actually coming to financial terms are two different things. He was going to get crap money for the fight. Jacobs was willing to fight Canelo. Then GBP threw him some crap offer. That does not mean Jacobs was not willing to fight, but not at any price.

The Vanes fight was a bad fight. It also in the end did not mean crap to me. Golovkin was in a bad situation (and yes that was due to Canelo). I was more interested in what Golovkin did after. He is fighting Canelo so I am fine with everything. Not going to continue to whine about it.

Just because someone says they are willing does not mean they will accept any offer. Would it have made the Golovkin haters happy had he offered Derevy $150K and then Derevy would have said f no? I do not think so. If you can't offer a serious proposal than better not to offer one at.

Anyways it is water over the dam. Golovkin is facing Canelo. Going back and whining about fighting Vanes on short notice isn't worth the time.

Hey, this is Boxing fans in 2018.

LOL@ vanes 2. But you’re right. Too many people are fans of fighters rather than the sport itself and can’t look at things objectively when their fave is involved

why are you crying so much about it still. every other fighter is allowed to fight a soft touch every so often so why isnt ggg? and vanes is more proven than dereyenchenko anyway.
