  • Comments Thread For: Mikey Garcia: I Came Back Down Because I Want To Unify 135

Despite having won belts in four separate weight classes, the one thing that Mikey Garcia hasn't accomplished yet is unifying any of those titles. He gets that chance on July 28th as he puts his WBC lightweight title on the line against IBF belt-holder, Robert Easter, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Winner of Easter-Garcia faces the winner of Loma-Beltran FOR ALL THE MARBLES *****. 140, 154, Heavyweight, Cruiserweight. It seems some unifications and soem undisputed champions are on the horizon soon enough.

I hope Mikey knows that he’s gonna have to endure lifetime hatred from most Loma fans who’d rather Mikey just exit 135 to keep Loma safe.

It's really a good time for fans in general. The 135 and HW unifications will cost is a little $, but I can live with that.

You fought Broner & Lipinets because they were easier opponents than Linares.

You do know Linares has been KO'd in round 1 and 2?? He's Khan 2.0

Garcia just ducked that amazing 140lb tournament to collect another easy belt vs Easter, a total bum. Garcia never wanted any smoke with Prograis.

Huh?? Loma has fought everybody he said he would fight. Garcia on the other hand. Talked Cotto, Linares, Spence, Thurman, Lomachenko, Crawford and who did he fight? Zlaticanin, Lipinets, Broner and Easter. He always runs from every hot division and fights the weakest link. Now 140 got hot he ran away, I really hope he doesnt run from Lomachenko, that fight has to happen next. Loma 100% wants it, but Garcia is already making excuses like he is a Showtime fighter bla bla bla.

Cotto fell through cause Mikey wanted to stay a free agent. Lipinets was and still is as tough as nails and Broner is nothing to sneeze at.

Lipinets and Broner collectively top Loma’s opposition list, not withstanding a blown up Rigo who decided to make every silly concession in the world to make the fight.

Mikey belongs at 135 imo, he quite solid build but didn't look a natural 140lb vs Broner and was a bit puffy and he not as strong as lower weight, Broner is strong at 140 tho

I personally have no objection to boxers staying at their best weight , even if the comp lacks a little. I'd rather see the best at the weight , like GGG is a natural 160lb no more or less and he shouldn't be expected to move up

If they move up, great , its a bonus but I can't rag a boxer for staying at his natural weight and fighting all comers
