    Ultimate Boxing Championship?

The UFC ain't my thing, but the organization is impressive when compared to the disorganization of boxing. There's only one champion per division there.

So you set up the UBC with 9 divisions and champion per. Now, the sticking point I think that could be capitalized on is sanctioning fees. Current champions in boxing must always pay a sanctioning fee for every defense. Well, if you have the UBC with no fees and comparable purses, a lot of guys might take this option. You know these guys have to get tired of paying that crap.

Overall, though, it would make the sport much easier to understand and the match-ups that need to get made would out of necessity.

    Thoughts?

They seem to have a drought lately, and started giving too many interim belts. But yeah, I get your point. Remove all the XYZ titles and combine them into one official Boxing title. One belt per weight.

watch out now......here comes the shlt

more champs, more opportunities. if theres one champ, the sport can stagnate.

its nice to have one top guy everyone chases after but its not a good long term arrangement

        imho.

I think it would be a great idea to have one champion per weight class.
Unfortunately it could never happen now cause all the abc alphabets have dug their claws in and are here to stay.
Just hoping more of these orgs dont get a grip hold on boxing otherwise is will end up being a joke.

I think if you asked Dan Rafael this question he'd say, "Nope never going to happen."

              It's already a joke imo.

However, I see the sanctioning fee elimination as a possibly draw. These guys have to get tired of dumping part of their purse to that garbage. Why should a fighter have to pay for that anyway? Don't they have enough things coming out of their purses, with trainers, medical and so on?

Even if there's a rule that there will be two title fights a year in each division, regardless of injuries, etc.?

I mean, when you really break down the BS and hold people to rules and enforce them, this can work. I understand **** happens, but the show must go on as they say.

Yeah, they need to cut out the interim crap.

Still, this sport needs structure. It's the only way to consistently get good match-ups imo.
