  • Comments Thread For: Ricky Burns is Ready To Go Again at Lightweight

Ricky Burns (41-7-1, 14 KOs) makes his return to the ring when he meets the ever-reliable TBA on June 16 at Newcastle's Metro Arena in fight number 50 and his manager, Alex Morrison, believes that his fighter still has a title run in him.

Couple of worthless BS posts above, just as one expects on this forum.

Ricky is in good nick, he's done a lot in his career, stays in shape, stays respectable, tough as they come; and 49 fights into his brilliant career he'll know himself whether to go on or not, he's definitely smart enough to make the right call on it whether time comes. I don't see him running from anyone, he'll go to what level he sees fit and call it a day when he decides the time is right.

I'll say it again, the two posts above are simply internet morons spilling their own sadness and regrets in public.

Or you could see it as: He's never been stopped/ko'ed in 49 fights and never taken a bad beating either. Sure, he isn't elite level but he can give B level fighters a tough scrap. There is still money for him to earn and he's still in good mental and physical health, so why not put in a couple more seasons? Is it really that bad a decision?

Ricky Burns just loves training and fighting. He's also one of the most respectful fighters out there and I can't remember him ever bad mouthing anyone. He can fight for as long as he wants and he will still fill out venues.
