  • Comments Thread For: Patience The Key With Tyson Fury Comeback

By Tris Dixon - THE mack is back, but he's not back back. After dethroning Wladimir Klitschko to become world heavyweight champion at the tail end of 2015, Tyson Fury cashed in his chips and drifted. He drifted into a career oblivion that saw his weight spiral out of control, his living habits deteriorate and the gym become a distant, hazy memory...

Wilder is waiting for you Fury! AJ the british champion don't have any courage! Got the belts for free.. holding them hostage.. and using them to make money while playing duck, duck, goose.. Fury looks like one of the clumsy goofy giants from "big friendly giant!" Lmao or a cavetroll from harry potter.. or lord of the rings.. this hungry hippo ate too many 8balls! Stick a fork in him.. he's done. WILDER IS COMING FOR YOU!!! AN B*TCHMADE AJ TOO!!!

We have to be happy with the funny things he says for a while. Fury really let himself go, what stopped the party? Boxing is all about motivation. Is he back because he wants it, or is he back because he' ran short of party favors.

I can understand to a point that Fury just needed to get in the ring in front of a crowd against a real live opponent to ascertain where he's at not just in terms of his boxing potential, but the added pressure of whether he can overcome the reported mental health issues and addiction problems that will be more of a psychological impediment than anything else to his comeback.
I thought he didn't take the fight in any way shape or form seriously enough, somehow reflecting the attitude that his opponent was so overmatched he could have gone in there blindfolded - so really it doesn't count for much at all in respect to his comeback trajectory.
If Fury hopes to land a fight with a Whyte, Miller, Ortiz, Povetkin, Pulev, Parker, Bellew or any other contender/titlist then he has miles and miles to go.
I don't know how well he's been training or sparring, but this was worse than Mike Tyson v Peter McNeely.
At least Tyson took it seriously and tested his skills against a live opponent.
If this is how tentative and unsure Fury is, then he's going to need another 12-18 months and at least 4-5 fights before he's ready to take on a real opponent.

Needs to be in with an actual heavyweight in his next outing, one that he can get himself up for. This was more an exhibition if anything.

25 fights in 7 years. Yeah I'd say patience has always been the key. In 7 years Mike Tyson had 42 fights and 9 title defenses. This guy Fury is a joke.

Haye 2.0 could teach fat Fury about coming back because fat Fury is doing it wrong.

I'm sure he will continue to train hard but sadly you can't reverse those years of being so overweight plus the drinking/drug issues.

It's a shame but he looked so happy to be back at least. I think someone like Gorman would KO Fury at this stage.

Let him take his time. He needs to gradually work himself back into top form, it won't happen overnight.

I'd rather see a sharp Tyson Fury against Wilder or Joshua. Not the version of Fury that showed up on Saturday.
