Some of these threads start off great and then take a turn for the worse. And 99% of the time it’s Amir Khan trolls that start it. Someone ban these clowns please ?
Anyway, this is a GREAT debate that will rage until a few of these special fighters step in the ring. Here are my candid thoughts.
Spence - Bud: This is the fight everyone wants now and I think it should happen. But I’d like to see Bud fight someone like Danny or Porter first. He’ll beat those guys, but another fight at 147, against a really good fighter, will leave him better prepared for Spence.
I’m very rarely torn on who I think wins a fight, but this is one I’m not sure on yet (another fight for Bud at 147 and I’ll make a call). Spence is just tough and hits hard as hell. As someone said earlier, Floyd spoiled people. When focused, he literally wouldn’t get touched. Bud isn’t on his level defensively and against someone like Spence that can get dicey really quick. I do think Bud is a superior boxer and would have the right game plan going in, but I’m not sure he could avoid Spence as much as he would have to. Tough to call.
Thurman: he’s been out too long. And honestly I think he’s too small for Spence. I’d love to see him fight Bud though.
The rest: a lot of other very good fighters at this weight. But the three above are a level above. Hopefully it’ll get sorted out sooner rather than later.Comment

You're contradicting yourself, you say Crawford is the best p4p "based on his style period", but previously said this when trying to downplay Linares:l will always keep it G. I pick Bud as the best pfp fighter based on his style period. He's the most versatile fighter fighting today imo. I don't blow up his comp like it's this or he beats everyone the same way. He shows it all.
Judging Horn and Linares skills doesn't take away the fact that Horn has the bigger win over a past it legend..same as Joshua over Wlad. You know that the greats were past it and put up good fights. I remember Eric Morales beating Daniel Zaragoza. It was welcoming Morales on to the scene.
Linares has had a good career, but he has no big wins. He's a fine fighter and has lasted long in this game and he's been around, but I don't rate him over Horn and I don't rate Horn over him. If you want to say that Linares was better, then we agree to disagree. Im not going the other way, im saying that they rate even to me in terms of how you rate their losses to Loma and Bud.
You can't have it both ways. Either we rate fighters based on skills or we don't. Also, just because Horn "beat" a past prime pac doesn't make him equal to a fighter like Linares. By that logic are you ready to concede that Joe Smith jr should be ranked equal with Crawford because he beat an aged Hopkins and that's a bigger name by far than anyone Crawford has on his resume?Comment

Top P4P fighters are guys like Floyd was and Ward because they were beating other p4p ranked fighters. Crawford's best win is Postol haha.
It's like saying Nathan Gorman is currently the best Heavyweight on the planet because his skills look a cut above other heavyweights even if it's against lesser opposition. of course Crawford is far beyond that, but it's just a similar theory.
The proof is in your wins against other top fighters and don't bring up he's a 3 weight world champ, Broner is a 4 weight one isn't he? Look at who Crawford beat for titles.
Sor Rungvisai is far more proven at a higher level than Crawford is. Actually many fighters are more proven than Crawford is. Even if they don't seem as skilled, doesn't matter. It's about who you beat. There's probably guys fighting in small halls that seem more skilled and pleasing to the eye than a guy like Maidana was but because it's at a certain level. Crawford might be one of the best in the world but let's see him beat a top level fighter and prove it.Last edited by TheBigLug; 06-12-2018, 09:26 AM.Comment

Damn that is an excellent point. That is a massive contradiction. There's no way Horn is better than Linares at Boxing. His career is nowhere near as good nor will it be and his skills aren't in the same stratosphere. Experience is a HUGE edge for Linares too. It's like putting Buster Douglas over Wladimir Klitshcko in an all-time sense because of one win and Max Schmeling over anyone not named Ali or Louis. You're contradicting yourself, you say Crawford is the best p4p "based on his style period", but previously said this when trying to downplay Linares:

Crawford and Lomachenko are my two favorite fighters. I absolutely have no favorite between the both. Been on both bandwagons for years and attend their fights (I was at the Horn and Linares fights). I think Lomachenko in general has better wins and the stronger resume based on whom he's beaten and is certainly the more eye-catching talent of the two. Crawford closes the distance because he's cleaned out two divisions whilst winning all four belts in one and he's been so dominant and whilst not quite as stylish is a very complete fighter with perhaps even more ring IQ than anyone in the game currently.
Like I said earlier Lomachenko has actually had better opponents available to fight whereas it's been easier for Bud to get unifications since no other champs wanted a piece of Loma.
IMO Loma deserves to be called #1 p4p but Bud is an acceptable answer. IMO what is unacceptable is saying one is vastly better than the other or that they aren't the two best p4p fighters currently. Both are incredibly dominant and are achieving excellent things that their detractors are trying to discredit but the general consensus is that both are doing fine and dandy.Comment
