This isn't a guy the #1 guy in the division should be fighting. Layoff or not. This is a poor opponent with a nice name. And honestly respect to Lopez for always being ready & available, not unlike Gabe Rosado, to be in the running for big name fights like this. He even deserves a bigger fight right now cuz he did just upset a undefeated prospect in Miguel Cruz. But he shouldn't be fighting a #1 in the world guy bigger fight.
I don’t consider Thurman the #1 Welterweight anymore. That goes to Spence in my opinion. I’d put Thurman at 2, & Crawford at 3. I honestly don’t see Thurman beating either of them unless he gets a lucky KO punch. I just can’t see Thurman outboxing neither Spence or Crawford.

If he does fight him it doesn't need to be televised. He can do this in his hometown in Florida at the local highschool gymnasium.

I wouldn't argue with you. I'm considering that move myself but I think I wanna see Thurman in action first.

I think in this era of boxing #1 is more influx then its ever been since tip top guys don't fight as much as they used to. I flipped GGG to #1 at 160 w/o beating the #1 guy & I flipped Kovalev to #1 at 175 cuz Adonis was limp ****ing his #1 spot. I can see a solid argument to give Spence the #1 spot cuz Thurman hasn't been fighting.

Hopefully Thurman gets his schit together and starts fighting regularly again. Props to Lopez if this happens, dude is a true warrior that has been thrown in with some killers in the past.

Thurman has only fought like 3 times in three years..his heart isn't in boxing and once he started getting paid he checked out. Hopefully Haymon robs him on the cards and gives his belt to Spence or something.

I think it's a cherry pick. Thurman is really playing it safe. Lopez is just an opponent and not even close to being a contender. He always loses to anybody worth a damn. He never quits and puts up a brave fight but he loses.

                  I think that’s exactly why he’s there
Hopefully Thurman puts it in gear after this crap

lol I literally just read now that according to ESPN his return fight might be on September 8th instead of August 4th. That would be like the 3rd delay now in the span of a few months for a tuneup fight. I’m assuming Lopez will be the opponent. There’s been talk of Jessie Vargas as well but I don’t see that happening due to being out of the ring for a year & a half.

Meh. Keith's entire career has bored me.
