Comments Thread For: Horn Promoter Shakes Head on Anthony Mundine Showdown

ALL options are on the table for Jeff Horn, including a move to a different weight division, with the vanquished champion promising to "rebuild" his career after tasting defeat for the first time as a professional. But Horn's promoter, Dean Lonergan, has poured cold water on the prospect of a meeting with veteran Anthony Mundine, rattling off other potential candidates for Horn's next fight, including Shawn Porter, Danny Garcia, Adrien Broner and Jessie Vargas.

I don't know how Aussie locals feel about Mundine v Horn, but it's not a fight I want to see.

Mundine will have killed his body over the last few years - getting up to 175 to fight Danny Green and be outweighed by 7 or 8 pounds, down to 160 to fight Browne, and I presume Horn-Mundine would be done at 154, which based on Horn's last minute struggles to get to 147, might play into Horn's hands even more. Choc is old as ****, and while he's an incredible specimen, that yo-yoing can't be good.

In saying that, I ****ing love watching Mundine lose.

First loss and it's not the end of the world. A move to 154 would be a good move, with Horn struggling to make the welter limit.

You are right in one respect, but you have to understand the Australia culture to understand that their comments on based on anything other than being naive. It’s kind of similar to a small town in America, if you are locally a great ball player or whatever, people think the world is their oyster, they’re not dumb or deluded just naive.

Australians are like that about a lot of things, their country is quite isolated, so they’re media blitzes then with good news stories about local heroes because in reality they’re a bit thin on the ground, especially boxing which is a sport most people view with a very low opinion.

Too big for 147 to small for 154, charlo or Hurd would murder him, might give Brook some issues but brook would be to quick..as much as I hate too say it I’d probably take the Mundine payday while it’s there

I would be interested in seeing Horn fight Garcia , Broner or Porter. I'm pretty sure he'd beat down Broner.

Porter would muscle and brawl his way past this clown. Garcia or Spence would also out maneuver him. Hard worker, but just not very talented at all. His best bet is to move up and try to work his way up the ladder there. Lotta great talent up north of WW. He'd be smart to try to get fights with 2nd tier guys at JMW to finish out his career.

He better do what he needs to do to make 147. He has to start fighting Euro level bums to rebuild. He can still fight just not against the best.
