Was Angelo Dundee operating within the rules when he would yell out "30 seconds!" to Leonard? I've heard of similar things involving other fighters & trainers, but I think that example is the most well known.
I was watching a fight earlier, I think it was Glen Johnson vs Tavoris Cloud, in which the road warrior is 41 years old fighting a much younger, more fit opponent in Cloud, and is visibly struggling towards the end of some rounds. I was wondering if he may have been better off had his
Trainer given him a "30 seconds" or "1 minute" or any quick indication as to how much time is left in the round.
I'm thinking as I'm writing this, though, and can't the fighters, depending on where they're fighting, just look look up to see the round timer on the big screen or whatever? I know I've seen that mentioned by the color commentary crew before.
So if a guy can look at the clock himself at any point, I have to imagine it's legal for his trainer or cutman to have a stopwatch and yell updates at his fighter during the round.
