Comments Thread For: Shakur Stevenson Wants To Be Put on The Fast Track

As Shakur Stevenson impressively thrashed Patrick Riley in Philadelphia on April 28th, it was by far his most impressive outing as a professional. "Yeah, I would definitely say that the best I've looked," agreed the 2016 Olympic silver medalist who represented the United States. "I feel like I'm a lot more comfortable now."

He has been looking pretty good & a lot better than he was in his first couple fights. Idk about fast tracking him off of that doe. His last 3 opponents had a combined record of 36-2 & they are his best 3 opponents thus far, but I don't see what the hurry is for a 20 year old 1 year into his career. Give him better guys & keep moving him upward sure, but fast tracking him to me means they wanna get him into a belt sooner rather than later. Idk about that & I suspect Bob will be of my mindset more than wanting this kid to be fighting THAT quality of guys so soon. Plenty of time for Shakur.

The only young prospect I'm following, plenty of time to hone those skills and get experience

I'd say he's already being moved quite a bit faster than Arum usually moves his prospects. He'll probably have one more 8-rounder and then move onto 10 and start fighting for some trinkets, and it's only slightly more than a year since he turned over
