Mick Hennesey, one of the best

Got a great eye for talent, grass roots promoter that finds world class fighters.
He comes across as a decent guy & has never ripped off a fighter.

Found Froch & Fury & steered them into world championship fights

Both fighters completely ridiculed in the early days as being useless.

Hennessey knew they were world class & proper fighters.

He's got an eye for throwback fighters

Doesn't get the credit he deserves

Don't think Froch was ridiculed in his early days. He was a noted amateur and always had something about him.

You make him sound more like a scout than a promoter. He certainly is a long way down the pecking order when it comes to promoting these days.

Having a chin made of cast iron didnt hurt him either.

He was shat on by media, other promoters & fans.

It was the Pascal fight that got attention & even then he was still seen as c/b level.
He didnt get the credit for his fights before.
Calzaghe had just retired & nobody other than Froch & Hennesey knew how great Froch was

He's as close as youll get. He still puts on small shows..and is around the small hall fighters.

Its broadcasting but he's doing well on terrestrial telly & he may prefer a smaller stable.

lol wtf are you on about

Froch was a massive talent who was knocking good guys out on Sky Sports and Channel 5 from his early days. Nobody has ever ridiculed Froch.

Did people know he'd gone on to have a HOF career? No. But he was always considered a top british talent at the time, and don't try to contest this because I was there for pretty much every single Froch fight before he made it to the Pascal fight.

I was a fan, followed him before the Pascal fight. I remember how much ****e he got & never got credit.

                    He was seen as useless.
Im not saying he was. Both fury & froch had amateur experience. That doesnt mean they got the credit or recognition as pros coming up

This is written with hindsight but still touches on how he was seen

Measured Against All Time: Carl Froch
                    by Cliff Rold

Sometimes the sum is greater than the whole of the parts.

It took a little longer for Carl Froch to get the respect of the boxing world than it should have. He wasn’t the fastest fighter in the sport. He wasn’t the biggest puncher. His coordination and awkwardness didn’t suggest masterful athleticism.

In a world obsessed with aesthetics, he relied on the little things too often taken for granted. He was tough, tenacious, durable, and smart enough to figure out who he was in the ring and make it work. Add in a salty personality and a chip on his shoulder and Froch became one of the biggest winners of his generation in a strong Super Middleweight era.
