Comments Thread For: Golovkin Promoter Shocked at IBF: They Were Unfair To GGG!

Tom Loeffler, promoter for WBC, WBA, IBO middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (38-0-1, 34 KOs), admits they were shocked by Wednesday's decision from the International Boxing Federation - who decided to strip GGG of their middleweight belt. The sanctioning body will now order the two highest ranked available contenders to collide for the vacant belt.

Loeffler must live in a different universe if he didn't see this coming. Next thing he'll say is he's shocked at the WBC and WBA.
It was simple, he could have fought Dervanchenko and chose not to. Instead he chose to fight a guy who won 1 out of his last 4 fights, a guy who's never fought at 160, a guy who hasn't fought in 2 years, a guy coming off a lost.
Dervanchenko was ready but he choose not to fight him. He got what he had coming.

Unfortunately the belt is now a worthless paper belt, shame but really GGG needs to make some big fights happen.

Surprised? Shocked? Didn't see this coming? Are you phuking ****** Loeffler! The IBF LITERALLY told you this would happened. Refused to sanction and allow you to fight that bum semi retired 154lb Vanes. Warned you that if you continue and make the fight anyway you are risking being stripped. And you guys went and made the fight anyway refused to fight your mandatory or find a 160lber with a pulse that the IBF would of sanctioned. Loeffler wanted to cancel the May date but GGG forced him to make a BS fight anyway and it backfired. Shyt crowd even with giving away thousands of free tickets had a 1/3 empty tiny Stubhub and it cost you the IBF belt.

The media have been writing that this would happen the moment IBF told you NO to Vanes. You made the fight anyway and refused to even negotiate with your Mandatory after the fight. Strip that clown and now the WBC on your azzz to strip you next if you don't fight Charlo. Serves team Triplebullshyt for their lies and hypocrite actions. Aka Mr I'm not a businessman or MR 154 or 168. Hard to keep up with these lies and flip flops now they shocked that after holding belts hostage and ducking mandatories that you are stripped. LMAO

As a GGG fan, I have no problem with this. If you don't fight your mandatory, this can't be surprising but I can also see the circumstances on why keeping the belt would be difficult. Hoping for a bjs matchup next.

Poor team GGG, now they are not just beggars but they are also victims. The Alphabet soup woudln't stand for them fighting bums like Vanes without fulfilling mandatory's.

Everyone pointing the finger at GGG but none saying anything about Dev & DiBella? Look at how counterproductive their contention was. They don't get the fight against Golovkin now. That obviously would be his career high payday. He's looking at a possible match up vs Andrade or Murray? How much you think that is going to pay? Vs GGG it would at least have netted him a PPV & a few Million. Now it's all risk, basically a second eliminator & still won't see that payday on the near horizon.

He could have built upon his standing & increased his chances for the big fight by taking on a tougher challenge himself. He chose to fight the guy with 22 L's & nothing since, just another guy with no activity level unless ordered to do so with a pending deadline.

I'm all for having the next level fighters square off, but this won't change anything when the top contenders still looking for either Canelo or Golovkin. It's been only Golovkin that's even tried to unify titles at this division for years now. None of the other champs that have been mixed in have even attempted other than Lemieux. None care about that I guess. More paper champs, just what boxing needs.

Now Golovkin can take some blame here too, not by passing on the May 5th match up (one month to fight a mandatory isn't reasonable), rather he could have stayed active & fought Dev over the winter. Too much risk though with the Canelo match looming, I understand that. Bet they'd have chosen differently had they only known how this year was going to unfold.
