Most believe it's because of the helmets lol I think it's a combination of things though.

Football players get ****ed all around compared to other sports. (Unless you're a QB)
the problem with football endorsements is that usually players are limited to selling performance equipment or beverage/food products

as you mentioned...individual sports are much easier to sell....and even basketball...you can sell a kid a pair of sneakers and he doesnt even have to use them to play...some wear them as fashion or to school...plus you can pick up a basketball and entertain yourself

football is not a sport one can participate in alone....and kids arent wearing football cleats with their regular school clothes...with football players they are usually relegated to selling some practice shorts/shirts type stuff like nike and underarmour

its easy to sell a middle aged guy a piece of golf equipment...and its easy to sell a 12 year old something basketball related

Honestly, I doubt anyone ever makes as much as Floyd again. He didn't even fight ten full rounds and still made more than Messi and Ronaldo put together. It's so excessive that it's honestly a joke.
"bad for boxing" would indicate this was a flop.. it certainly wasn't. and it's no surprise guys like Pacquiao, Canelo, DLH and Paulie all wanted to fight Conor too seeing the fortune Floyd made.

I respect the hell out of Floyd. Never been a big fan of his style. That said, when a boxer makes that much money its good for other boxers.
Im not a Conor fan either but its good for other UFC fighters.

Tiger Woods was the same way. Most of them make their lions share on endorsements. Floyd is a rare commodity.

This is why you never get yourself in any scandal, drama, or headlines. The man doesn't have to win A SINGLE MATCH and he would still be on the top 10 of this list off of endorsements ALONE.

Floyd Mayweather made 10 million in endorsements. That jumps off the page at me. Thats some significant earnings for someone with Floyds criminal record. Very significant.
