After reading the article, those were my exact thoughts. The tactic might work if he can get the judges and ref in the pocket like Ward did.

IMO Kovalev beat Ward in the first fight, and I'm definitely not alone in that opinion. But like some others have brought up, how will Alvarez do with his elbowing, ball punching etc game? I doubt he's as slick at that as Ward was. And he certainly won't have judges in his pocket to ignore that.

If Kovalev comes in less than the sum of his parts when they're all finely tuned, yes Alvarez has a good chance. Otherwise, he'll likely wear out from body and head shots before the 10th. Alvarez has some serious talent, yes, but Kovalev... even with the Ward issues, isn't some pushover. That's just wishful thinking. I wonder if Kovalev can get past Beterbiev, Stevenson, Bivol, Smith Jr. But not all that concerned about this fight.

He should focus on not getting knock out less than 4

I'm pretty sure Beterbiev folds Kovalev, especially with vicious body shots.

Alvarez is good but not special. Ward had that extra something that made him fight to a decision in the first fight. Once other opponents felt Kovalev's power they usually went into survival mode. Ward got dropped early in the first fight and decided to take the fight to Kovalev. He wore him down and put himself in the position to get the decision. Alvarez has to be able to go to that other level because Kovalev will go for the kill if he gets the opportunity.

i dont know about folds lol but i do think Beterbiev beats Kovalev for real his shots carry real power that ward doesn't have. as for alvarez he will have to be at his best n hope kovalev has ward flashbacks for him to pull this off

                    Kova won the first fight

And ward blantantly cheated to win the 2nd.
