Junior featherweight contender Emanuel Navarrete has come a long way from his only defeat as a pro at the age of 17. Almost six years later, he is now a mandatory challenger to a world title belt. Navarrete slowly broke down Jose San Martin, dropping him twice in the later rounds to win by knockout in the 12 round at the Arena Jose Sulaiman in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico.

The writer forgot to mention that el vaquero Navarrete injured his left hand in round 4 and by rounds 7 through 10 he was basically fighting with one hand only. By the start of round 11 he somehow managed to fight through the pain and came out throwing a barrage of punches with both hands and dropped him late in the round. By the 12th round Navarrete came after him again and dropped him with a well placed body punch that ended the fight. This guy will beat either Danny Roman or Moises Flores and become a world champion.
