He has defended against some unranked fighters but most of today's champions are guilty of that. He is ranked number 1 in the world by boxrec. He has defeated Mares who bolxrec ranks 4th in the world and Frampton who boxrec ranks 2nd in the world. He is not a paper champion or a coward. He is number 1 and has defeated number 2 and number 4. Maybe you don't agree with boxrec's rankings but they are the only neutral source I could find quickly.

But if it makes a difference ... I've been to both guys gyms a number of times and Leo is a humble , welcoming down to earth guy .
While Mares acts like a prick .
