Many fans wish fights just happen without being subjected to this back and forth thing.
Klitschko even in his last leagues was 10x more popular than this Wilder personality.
Yet his fight with AJ just happened without fans knowing any single detail about the negotiation.

For what it's worth I think a lot of people are putting way too much emphasis on the $50m comment AJ made. Imagine it was a throwaway comment made in an interview (he did something similar with the Dana White $500m rumours).

Following that comment I would think Eddie Hearn or someone with a bit more sense will have sat him down and explained the importance of retaining control of the fight, AJ's legacy, earning potential over the next few fights etc.

I think there's a very structured plan for AJ's career, and fighting a high risk power puncher in your first fight in the US without Hearn controlling the event probably isn't part of that. If AJ keeps going how he has been, then he'll be clearing $50m over his next few fights easily anyway, wilder or not - so money isn't the major motivating factor. Hearn & co will do everything to stack the deck in AJ's favour, home territory, familiarity, control over timings, press commitments etc - all helps to give AJ better chance.
Nobody is putting any emphasis at all on AJ's comment. The emphasis is on the 50 million dollars. It's not a joke, It's real. AJ is acting like it's cheese in a trap, he not scared, he's paranoid.

AJ has stated on numerous occasions that he wants to fight in Africa, so why not pitch it over there?

Both of them want home advantage, both of them would travel if its against lesser opponents, both of them would take less to fight at home, both of them are holding up the fight. One has been offered twice is usual payday (AJ), and the other five times his usual payday (Wilder) both teams turn it down. Anyone that cannot see that is truly bias IMHO.

              This is purely psychological.

If Wilder bows to demands then Joshua wins the first battle. There's no way Joshua bows to Wilders backers.

AJ is such a don that he's saying he don't need that 50m, he's already making close to that.

Wilder is not. He has no choice. Fight in the UK for around 8x his highest pay (for argument's sake let's say the improved offer is around $15m) and make potentially less than for a US fight.

Or don't fight, go and fight Brezeale instead for maybe $4m now that he has used Joshua to elevate his name.

The ball really is in Wilders court. He did all the trash talking and calling out. Now he needs to put up or shut up. What he care so much about home advantage anyway? I thought he don't need judges?

Wilder literally says in this interview(from last week) he'll fight in September in the UK.

Dude, there are 6 comments on this thread alone saying "AJ wanted $50m", there's plenty of emphasis on that comment.

You're right though, it is being viewed as cheese in a trap - largely because for Hearn and AJ it is. $50m is a big carrot, but as it'd be AJ's first fight away from home, he'd need to establish a training camp in the US and adjust to the time difference, have no familiarity with the venue, fans, media etc.

It'll have to happen eventually of course, but I think they'll view it as too big of a risk for a first Wilder fight. As someone else said, he'd travel for a lesser opponent.

The added consideration is that's AJ's earning power is so high, he doesn't really need to worry about a one off fight fee. There are other big fights to be made for him, Wilder unfortunately doesn't have that luxury at the moment.

Well Wilder says he would travel but all the evidence so far suggests otherwise. I don’t think his team want him to travel and I don’t believe he will.
