Comments Thread For: Arum Sees Benavidez as Next Big Star, Eyes Ramirez Unification

Top Rank CEO Bob Arum revealed on the BoxNation Podcast that David Benavidez is without question a Top Rank fighter. As BoxingScene.com reported a few weeks ago, promoter Sampson Lewkowicz, who signed Benavidez to a four year deal in 2017, is going to legally challenge Arum's claim to the Mexican fighter.

haymon would have the right idea of letting this guy get a promoter...guy cant promote himself obviously...and the mexican vs mexican tr fight seems like a potential rematch/rubber match ordeal.

i'd hope that arum an haymon are in this together..there is more than enough to go around it seems, and it is better for the boxing fans bc business ties are good on both sides..wishful thinking...benavidez needs to be asked if haymon is still advising him.

Benavidez is the future, Zurdo is good but David will put him out to pasture

Before Benavidez fights Ramirez he has a tough fight on July 28th on Showtime vs Former Amateur sensation Matt Korobov, Korobov if he has anything left is a hard fight for anyone.

I can't see Benavidez becoming a huge star over the next few years. Not through any fault of his own, but super middle as a division lacks any huge stars for him to build a rivalry with. Groves & Degale are both damaged goods and at the wrong end of their careers, Smith is ok but lacks charisma, Zurdo is meh...

I'm sure we'd all enjoy fights amongst any of the above, but in terms of crossover appeal, I don't see it.

The one plus for Benavidez is his age. He's young enough to bridge two eras, and a better crop of rivals might emerge down the line.

I'd be very disappointed to see Benavidez go into Top Rank's ESPN protection programme.

The kid has it all and I'd like to see him continue fighting solid opposition and not the Danny O'Connors of this world.

If Benavidez was still with Sampson then Bob Arum wouldn't acknowledge his star power nor would he let Top Rank fighters get in the ring with him.

He's the biggest piece of **** in boxing.
