Even today with all the free information flow, Floyd who is our biggest cash cow can't go to an African country and pull thousands of people. Ali fought where ever he wanted around the world and tens of thousands ran to see him. Almost everyone you will meet knows who he is. Then once you add his boxing achievements and off ring achievements, you really can't compare any other sports figure.

Which other sport figure do you think would die and keep the whole world on a stand still? If lebron slumps and dies today right in a live game, loads of people outside US won't know or care.

Don't mistake greatest for best fighter, Ali is not the best fighter but he is the greatest.
Okay, I agree he is the most ‘iconic’ boxer of all time. I was referring to boxing ability in my first post.
