I dont see how there is $50 million available to pay AJ. I dont see this fight generating that kind of money.

Canelo didnt get that kind of payday against Cotto for example.

Lets say that AJ and Wilder each get 50 million, for 100 million purse. Lets then call an average ppv price of $45, when US prices are usually $60 and UK prices are usually lower.

They would need 2.2 million PPV buys to generate that purse. That doesnt include other costs, promotion, venue, undercard, all kinds of other chit. You think this fight does 2.5 million PPV?

Americans dont even know who Wilder or AJ are.

Yes, and that did 4.4 million ppv. The 100 million was not the guarantee either. AJ wanting 50 million guarantee is crazy. Actually, that was what Pac's guarantee was vs Floyd. Which shows how ridiculous AJ is being with his demand.

While ever wilder has 40 odd fights and can only pull out Ortiz and Stiverne as his big fights, nobody can argue sensibly for him

curiously, where do you live / where are you from?

you're forgetting the fee the casino would put up, closed circuit, sponsorship, and of course the gate. that's a lot of revenue. canelo and golovkin did 27 million at the gate, for example. las vegas talks.

you're also undervaluing american PPV, they're $70 and this could be more. canelo - golovkin was 80 bucks.

i think you're underestimating how big this one could be, man. america is starved for another star in boxing, and for another HW. a lot of the people here are too young to remember when HW completely dominated PPV and top billed boxing.

Joshua was at the NBA Game or whatever you call that game and he got his name changed to anthony johnson and was like ordinary citizen. Wilder was walking through the streets of NY and barely anyone recognised him....Boxing is dead in America bar a Mike Tyson or Mayweather you aint ever gonna see a mainstream fighter again

Yup, Joshua's biggest fans even admit this.

It's only the fanboys that say otherwise.

Yea thats in hindsight. I mean we dont know if Wilder and Johnson will fight in the future and how much they will make so for the time being he is ducking wilder just like Manny ducked Pacquiao.

You idiot Anthony Johnson was scouting for his next opponent. Seeing as how Houston just lost I say its gonna be Anthony Johnson vs James Harden

I don't know enough about the financials involved in AJ's career to say for sure (none of us do) but I will say that it sounds very suspect. Bolstered by the fact that B Hearn is very vocal in saying he doesn't want AJ fighting Wilder right now. It seems fruitless, even embarrassing, for people to aggressively argue against Wilder on this one. The better argument would be that they want to build the fight. It's the only feasible defense beyond just admitting that the risk/reward is not prime and they want to get some more $$ out of Aj before taking risks with their investment.
