What I dont understand is GGG just defended the WBC belt against Vanes?? They took the $$ and now demanding he fight Charlo next??? I believe according to their own rules he has until May 2019 to defend the belt??? Unless because Vanes wasnt a top 10 or 15 boxer it doesnt count??

Vanes was such a ****** opponent from GGG camp and it backfired. But WBC and WBA allowed vanes as a optional defense he doesn't count as any of their mandatory. IBF was the next belt in the agreed order owed for mandatory anyway so the others allowed. IBF already made an exception for canelo in may and probably would of made another had GGG found a credible middleweight. Instead GGG chose a semi retired superwelterweight were told no to vanes IBF and warned that if they continue anyway he could be stripped, now they likely won't allow any other fight instead of dervy. They could technically strip him if he fights canelo or even a unification with Saunders next. Their stance was simple either vacate the IBF if you fight vanes or agree in writing to fight the IBF mandatory (dervy) directly after vanes. If they follow their rules any fight other then mandatory he gets stripped. At which point he is on the clock for the WBC mandatory. After that is the WBA (Jacobs is the number 1 ranked).

Canelo's stock is sinking.. I just don't see him being that competitive at 160, too short with poor stamina. So he has limited options for money fights in a career that I feel will be finished by the time he's 30 yrs old if not sooner. Actually, the rematch may be his best option, GGG is almost 37. Canelo will be well compensated even if GGG gets a better percentage. Canelo really doesn’t have too many options to make the same amount of money out of the purse once you take Golovkin out of the equation. Just my 2c.

Canelo fills football stadiums and casino venues in vegas. GGG has to move his fight from Vegas and still can't fill a tiny stubhub. Canelo has no mandatories and can fight whoever he wants he calls the shots in his career not any abc belt org. If GGG doesn't fight dervy, then charlo, then Jacobs he is stripped of his belts. Canelo can literally fight whoever he wants or whoever brings the most money in Sept then then next may. He's young with time on his side GGG is old pushing 40 with only a handful of fights left any loss and could retire. GGG needs canelo more then the other way around he can't get paid without him and could lose any of these mandatory fights with nothing to show for it. Time to get on his knees and crawl back and sign that deal on the table ASAP.
