If the cable system goes then Showtime and HBO will struggle to continue in their current form. I'm not saying they won't. HBO have a very clever guy advising them on future trends and I'm sure both companies are all over this, but their existing model of operation is in serious danger. They may not be around in their current form in a few years, big changes happpen very quickly in media.
Maybe DAZN fails, most start-ups do. What they're attempting to provide however may be a much better model for a sustainable sports platform in the post cable milieu. So they have a chance.

Buyouts in boxing usually occur when a fighter only has a single fight left on their contract or a Luis Ortiz situation where GBP agreed to allow a buy out and made 7 figures for their troubles.

Heard is smart and shrewd usually. If you follow his dealingsin the uk he is very specific about numbers, and details in contracts and is very realistic in potential profit. It's why he can always make fights when he needs to unlike some of the promoters who hold grudges but will also not really fight for things if they don't take his offer like Frampton when Warren got him (and look how thats looking to pan out for Frampton). So with that in mind it will be worth watching. And he has balls + doesn't mind being the bad guy. You can ignore what he says about people in public, he plays the pantomime villain.
However, I still don't really know if he grasps what beast he is going up against. It's no surprise close to this deal being announced there were 2 extravagant displays of wealth from America. You can ignore things like comparing public budgets when you have other hugely wealthy en****** who care.

Alright kid...
It’s “your” season ticket not “you”. Since you’ve become the spelling police all of a sudden you little c*ckney rent boy.
I’ve spent thousands on football, about this time 4 years ago I was flying out to Belo Horizonte for the World Cup. You enjoy Ostersund away with all your **** fans though you little maggot.
And yes shows do take place weekly in London. And I’ve seen guys like Lomachenko and Usyk at York Hall. It’s a fantastic venue to watch boxing but you wouldn’t know nothing about that cause you’re an Eddie Hearn a*se licking little casual.
“But I can’t go cause I’m a season ticket holder doe”😭😭
Pathetic.
Now go and sing with the rest of the cult...

If the contract does not include such a clause then it can be negotiated later. But there is no law nor rule that stops a promoter from offering a signed fighter a deal. They can wine and dine and some may even offer gifts of enticement. Once that fighter agrees to terms with the new promoter they will inform the old promoter of their intentions and if no clause exists, they will then enter in negotiations to secure a buy out. Some promoters will release part or even the majority of their promotional pact for residuals on future revnue from events and what not. Similar to Canelo and GBP. Mayweather buying out his own contract from Toprank is a great example. His buy out was already negotiated in to the contract.
There are only a few cases where a buyout is available. Ask Andre Ward

That is why Nonito went back to Top Rank after his contract with GBP was voided because he was already under Top Rank contract or why Golden Boy signed Jonathan Oquendo and a few days later PR Best Boxing validated that they had a contract and he went back.
