Comments Thread For: Groves Set To Be Declared Fit For WBSS Final With Callum Smith

Callum Smith will face George Groves in the World Boxing Super Series final. The WBC Diamond super-middleweight champion, 28, had faced an anxious wait ahead of the Ali Trophy showpiece after WBA Super world champion Groves had to have surgery on a dislocated shoulder.

Would hate to see Groves lose his title by fighting injured.

Smith hasn’t exactly set the world alight in his previous WBSS fights. Would be a bit of a soft route to World title if he fights a 1 armed Groves

Awesome! I'd love to see the winner fight Dmitry Bivol at a catchweight of 170 pounds. Smith is bigger than him anyway, Groves not far off if not the same size. Either that, or Gilberto and Benavidez need to get in on this.

Nice. I was cool with w/e happened here cuz the rules were known beforehand by all parties, but there is no question that the original winners who went through the tournament fighting in the finals is the 100x better situation then having a new guy or previous guy who lost in the tournament be re-entered into the final.

Respect to the WBSS & good luck to Groves & Smith.

Im pretty sure if Bivol could make 170 he would've contended at 168 from the start no point in him going down for a catchweight they can move up if not there is plenty of talent at light heavy to keep him busy

Sweet. Anything else would have tainted the tournament.

On another note, when are we getting a date and location for Usyk-Gassiev.

The money should go on Smith now then as Groves probs won't be 100%, but the main concern with him is; how many more times can he make weight cause he is big for the weight. Not in terms of height but in terms of build.

Gilberto should have "got in on this" when the tournament was first announced.
But Bob Arum is going to Bob Arum.

It's the same reason Jose Ramirez is not going to "get in on this" for the upcoming WBSS tournament at 140.

Great to hear. Hopefully Groves isn't hindered in any way or less than 100%, want to see him at his best for this fight. Would also love to see the winner put an end to DeGale
