Of course it has to be in the UK. That's the only thing that can void the 50 million offer.

And I thought prize fighting was about money all along... when in fact it's all about giving the people what they want and need! Thank you Mister Hearn the socialist for this clarification..

When that Russian billionaire put up the money for the W. Klitschko vs Povetkin fight he said the fight had to be in Russia, and Klitschko was fine with it because he was guaranteed 20 million.

AJ and Hearn are being pigs.
That's a fair way to look at it. The more detailed one is that AJ shot himself in the foot with that one interview. The reporter tells him Wilder wants $50M, so AJ goes "pfft yeah right, give me $50M and I'll fight him". Now that they got the offer, they're realizing it's actually not worth it to them to take it and give up control of the event. And it's actually true - it is NOT worth it to AJ and Hearn. This isn't life changing money for them, AJ makes this in ~2 fights. They rightfully concluded that the benefits they get for staging a huge HW unification fight in the UK are greater than the one time lump sum payment.

The only thing I'll say about this is that it is not fair to Wilder. He's a champion too. He should not need to travel somewhere else. Some people bring up that he was willing to travel for Povetkin, but that is immaterial.

In a perfect world, they stage the fight somewhere on a neutral ground where neither fighter has hometown advantage. But it won't happen.

Negotiating with wilders team must be like pulling teeth, BS offer, 24hr deadlines, no details, no clue how much wilder will get, take it or leave it, someone should tell wilder to go back to his 1 -2 mil paydays for a year or two and then get back to us, by then joshua will have made 100 mil+ lolz, im serious, this has gone too far

i dont know if indifferent is the right word, but i cant imagine there being some fierce support for wilder and some amazing atmosphere. the ward kovalev fight looked dead quiet to me and wilders probably less popular than ward.

But can you really buy leverage in negotiations? Obviously Wilder really doesn't want to fight in the UK if he is trying to pay his way into a position to call the shots. He is kind of showing a little bit of a weakness and I can understand how team Joshua would want to exploit that. And personally, I've never heard of the B side fighter paying the A side fighter to relinquish their A side privileges before.
