Robert Garcia is now training future prospect of the year

Vergil Oritz. I love the move. This dude is a beast and future champ. Robert has a lot to teach him. Hopefully teaches him to start throwing set up shots and let him know not everything needs to have power behind it. He's going to get great sparring too with Jose Ramirez and Mikey Garcia. I love the move. Thoughts?

i don't really know if i agree with this. a kid on that level needs 1 on 1 attention, to be in teh gym all the time even when he doesn't have a fight scheduled, etc. garcia cannot and has never historically given fighters a lot of his time. he has a big stable, and obviously his little brother gets his chief focus.

what robert does have is a stable of good fighters and a lot of the best sparring in the world. he also has a lot of knowledge and is a great trainer. but a lot of ighters have found in the past that being with the best trainer in the world isn't always the best fit. i can't tell you how many fighters left steward, roach, even garcia becuase he didn't have the time to be with them constantly. steward would have guys show up "in sahpe" and train them for 4-6 weeks by the end. and take the full paycheck, mind you.

I just watched one of his past fights on line. He looks great to me. I am a fan of his now for sure.

I can recall 3 people leaving Robert. 1) Rios and it was because he was getting too comfortable with Robert and wasn't serious about his training 2) Thomas Dulorme and that was because he wanted robert to train in Puerto Rico 3) The Argentina fighter and not really sure was the reason but it wasn't about attention since he went to another busy trainer in Freddy roach.
