Tips How can I win my hard amateur fight

Hello everybody and nice to meet you all.

I am here because surfing the net, I could read valuable advices for boxing, and I would like to receive your comments.

I am Marco, from Mexico, and I'm in an amateur championship, I could reach quarter finals, but my opponent is very hard. I have some good skills, mexican style, but this will be a difficult fight, I would like to win but in front of me will be an very good boxer too.

When I knew my opponent, I get very anxious and nervious and I cant stop thinking the possibility of losing.

My family and couches believe in me but I cant handle this.

How can I win the fight??

    Thank you all.

Hi Marco, for future reference, you'll get better responses in the training section of this forum.
There's an old saying that the fight is won in the gym, before you ever get into the ring. You must trill your techniques to the point that you don't need to think about them. So that your body slips a punch when your eyes see it coming. If you have to think about it, it's too late. The best thing you can do is drill your techniques as much as possible with anyone who will give you their time. Then, when you're in the ring you can focus on relaxing, breathing, and trusting the methods you've established into your reflexes.

Tension inhibits your ability to respond so you need to trust your training. My mental trick for dealing with high-pressure moments is to tell myself, "Yes! This is the moment I've been working for. I'm excited to get my chance to shine and show what I've got." This goes for boxing, public speaking, performing, dating, interviews, anything. If you put in the work, be proud of it and go in there with excitement.

Think about perfecting your game instead of thinking about your opponent.

        Hey,

I think you need to change the mentality you have. Instead of thinking about losing, respect your opponent and never underestimate him. However don’t think that he is good or you will lose, when the fight begins and you have that mentality and something goes wrong you will fold in half.

Stay positive, your going to win this guy is just in your way of winning.

I don’t have any tips because you already know what to do. You’ve been preparing for this your whole life. You will beat this guy reach the semis take that guy out reach the finals and take that guy out and win the tournament. You joined this tournament to win not to think your going to lose to a good opponent.

I was always very nervous myself before my fights, my coaches always said I was “too much of a thinker”. But try and control those nerves, cause if controlled, nerves can keep you sharp and attentive.

Without seeing you or your opponent, I obviously can’t offer any stylistic advice.

So just: Believe in yourself and your coaches. Follow the game plan and try to stay controlled, composed and in rhythm.

            Good luck.

Dont think about losing , think about learning and what you are able to adapt too in the ring to neutralise your opponent if hes better than you . Only you are in control of knowing how to win bc were not in the gym with you and have no info to details . Visualisation helps .
