This is what put Rafael Marquez on the map...when he stopped Tim Austin pretty brutally a few years ago. Austin has not since had any kind of impact on boxing, but was undefeated and an elite fighter before Marquez vanquished him.

don king hid austin for many years, but austin crashed maybe also by much disappointment and promises of king and marquez he lost. when he lost king wasn't even ringside as he was supposed to be.
but i think the fight that put him on the map was marquez v. johnson 1, then marquez v. johnson 2, finaly austin fight cemented his status. -
Austin was 31, and no one thought he was showing his age much before the fight. I was rooting for Austin for sure.
And yes, you're right, the too sharp fights put Marquez on the map, then the Austin fight cemented him.Comment
