I mean Jr is in his 30's now and his bro is pushing 30 so retirement should def be in the near future for both of them.

Rodolfo Chavez, who is the brother of Chavez Sr. and the head trainer of Omar Chavez, was shaking his head at the outcome.

"It was disappointing, why lie," acknowledges Rodolfo to Juan Manuel Vazquez.

"He trained very well and he has a lot of good fights he can make. But when it comes to being in the ring, he's in a spell, like Chavez Jr. was against Canelo... that's what it reminded me of."

Rodolfo says that his brother, Chavez Sr., was enraged by what his son was doing in the fight with Paz or Argentina.

"He walked away angry, as if he's tired of seeing the same thing, over and over again, with his two children,"
        Rodolfo said.

Rodolfo did not have any discussions in the aftermath with Chavez Sr. or Omar.

He says it's very difficult to work as the head trainer of Omar and Chavez Jr.

"It's hard to be in their corner, because you have to do the work and also be family. But it's like the passion is gone and something goes through their heads, but only they know what it is," says the coach.

They don't have their daddy's heart plain and simple.

But for Omar it just might be soothing else.

Tragedy struck Mexico (2009), when welterweight Omar Chavez stopped Marco Nazareth in 4 rds. After the fight, Nazareth felt dizzy then passed out. He was rushed from the ring on a stretcher and taken to the hospital where he laid in a coma until his body began to fail and he passed away 4 days later.

Omar the son of legendary fighter, Julio Cesar Chavez Sr, wanted to attend the burial. Omar was pretty broken up and family and friends were worried how it will affect his career and mental state in the ring.

"I am very sad about with happened. There are things in the ring that one never intends to do to one his opponents, but boxing is a sport with a lot of risk. This was an accident. As a person this affects me. I feel very badly. I always wanted to be a boxer, and my life should continue ahead," Omar stated.

The fight with Nazareth had a lot of action. Omar battered him with big punches but Nazareth continued to fight back until the very end.

"When I hit him I hurt him, but never I thought things would reach this kind of level. As I've said, one never thinks about taking the life of his opponent. Nazareth carried with a lot of courage, and my respects go to him and his family. He always said that he was going to give his all in the ring and he gave it," Omar said.

"When I arrived at the hotel, I was informed the grave nature of the situation and I went to see him in the hospital. There I spoke with his mother and father. My dad and intended to go to the burial. I will rest for a while due to the recent events and then I will return to the gym."

        Sad just sad!

The legacy Chavez Sr. left cannot be matched by any of his sons.

          He was a true warrior.

It has to be tough for one of the great fighters to lace on the gloves to watch the mediocre work ethic and performance of his sons. His sons could never come close to live up to Sr’s legacy and that has probably been their challenge growing up. Bottom line is not enough of Chavez Sr’s DNA was transferred to either one of them. Chavez Sr had the hunger and toughness to succeed. His sons didn’t inherit it.

Is this his son that killed another boxer?

Dude should quit. And Sr needs to stop encouraging his mediocre sons.
