Antonio Margarito vs Ike Quartey or Vernon Forrest

I'd like to see this fight happen if Quartey gets by Forrest , or vice versa. If Forrest wins he could fight Margarito as well. It's time for Margarito to take on a saavy veteran of the game and prove his dominance. What do you think ?

Ike is shorter but has a piston jab and a tough chin, he's been in with the best and has never been knocked out.

Forrest is tall and lanky and has decent power in his right hand. I think it would be a good matchup.

Those would all be nice fights, but I'm not sure if Tony wants to go to 154 again. I think he may have commented on this recently.

Forrest-Quartey will be a good fight, but either one of them would be beaten by Karmazin and Ouma. Forrest likes to fight and I think that would be his downfall vs Margarito...and the same applies for Quartey. It's a tough call though and these fights are hard to predict.

Forrest would fare better than Quartey against Marg, because Quartey leaves his chin up in the air and gets caught too much.

I think Quartey could beat anyone but the problem with him is he doesnt throw enough punches. He always throws one or two at a time. He doesnt put together enough combos. Forrest would be a good matchup because he's tall and good at smothering. But when it comes to an actual fight like you said he tends to go wild which could leave him to open. He could have beat Mayorga had he boxed and wasnt intimidated by him IMO.

I will favor both guys over Margarito. Both guys are much better boxer then Margarito.

Quartey is kinda washed up, so I will give Margarito a chance against Quartey today.

That's the key. I think Mayorga's handspeed at 147 was better than Tony's, but Forrest is older and a bit slower himself now. Would he be able to stay mentally strong vs Margarito's onslaught? How well will Forrest take Marg's shots when it comes time to brawl?

            Tough questions.

I don't know about Quartey knocking out Margarito much less beating him since he hasn't proven himself against top opposition yet, but I do know that he is past his peak at this point. I will say that the Quartey who stood toe to toe with Oscar De La Hoya in 1999, would be a handful for anyone in the welterweight division today.
