  • Comments Thread For: Warrington: Frampton in August is Too Soon, I Need More Time

Newly crowned world champion Josh Warrington is mapping out a plan after capturing gold at Elland Road on Saturday night. He upset the odds to capture the IBF featherweight title from Lee Selby with a twelve round split decision win. Two of the judges rewarded Warrington's ferocious flurries and sustained pressure by scores of 116-112 and 115-113 while a third scored the fight 115-113 to Selby, whose three-year reign as world champion at 126lbs was ended.

Well, he was just in a hard fight and is going to need some time to recover. The back end of August might be realistic though, in theory he could take two months to recover and still have one to get back in training. Whatever they do, I hope they don't push it back too far.

Being serious, if warrington beats Frampton there's not many boxers with better wins than he's got.

Still can’t believe selby didn’t beat Warrington

Hell of a scrap that was though . Fair play to both men . Warrington deserved the win for sure and I’m a big selby fan

Warren knows that Frampton and Warrington are his only big ticket sellers, so he will prevent the fight from happening this year.

He should volunteer for Fury’s comeback opponent

Trust me brooo, amagassa, martinez, brunkner, selby and then add frampton to that resume...plus munroe, speight and lindsay from a domestic perspective. The kids done good man, doesn't deserve the hate he gets he's a decent lad. I really think seeing the majority of picks so aggressively for selby shows how many people really watch fighters and analyse the style matchup compared to how many people are just constantly riding a bandwagon and going with the main****** majority opinion. cos it wasnt just people picking selby to win it was people saying he was going to stop josh and it would be a mismatch lol was nothing of the sort, josh much grittier and wayyyy too busy. I think he can beat frampton because frampton isnt all that and he's lost a step since before santa cruz , he can be outworked and josh is resilient and consistent.
