    Looks like Oscar's retiring..

(Not sure if this was posted or not...)

WBC super welterweight champion Oscar De La Hoya won't announce his future plans until tomorrow, but Kassim Ouma, who is promoted by Oscar and fights in the same division, may have let the cat out of the bag. According to the Daily Monitor in Ouma's native Uganda, Team Ouma is celebrating Oscar's retirement because it will allow Kassim to fight for the vacant WBC title earlier than expected.

Hmmm, I haven't heard nothing on this, he could relinquish the belt to avoid fighting a mandatory.

Giving up his title doesnt mean he's retiring. He may just not want to fight until early 07 but the WBC wont let him keep the belt, so he will have to give it up.

It also could mean that he wants Floyd at 147? Who knows? The injuries stuff is garbage though. No one ever really talked about his injuries until now, just because he wants to retire and thats a easy reason to say. He looked just find against Mayorga and even Schaffer said his injuries and not holding him back from fighting at all

I didnt mean that he doesnt have those injuries because he obviously does but Im saying he has always fought through them and just dominated Mayorga with those same injuires, so he might retire and not fight Floyd but I dont think it has to do with injuries at all and thats the same thing Schaffer said.

If he retires its just because he's content. Either way, I still see him fighting again and fighting Mayweather because he still didnt get the send off fight that he wanted. He didnt get to publicly announce that this is my definte last fight when he fought Mayorga and I think Oscar wants a better, more offical send off.

He wont fight this year but Floyd will beat Margarito and everyone will be bragging on Floyd after that and thats when Oscar will fight him in early 07, maybe on Floyd's birthday because HBO has a PPV scheduled for Floyd on his Birthday. That will just add one more subplot to a fight that could be the biggest in history. Oscar will be like Sugar Ray Leonard when he was retired and watched everyone brag about Hagler. He will watch Floyd kill Margarito and then say that now is the time and I can beat him

the mayorga fight he knew was going to be a winnable fight. this one with PBF would be hard so why take a chance of his injuries coming into play againts a guy who would of gave him problems in any part of his carrere
