we do play rugby over here man....especially in college..i played in college...intermural......it is tough no question..its not for every one.....

but i guarantee you euros have 0 concept of what goes on at the top collegiate level or nfl level of american football....i realize playing some intermural rugby doesnt do it justice and its much different at the world, top, level.....but its not tougher than american football....not even a question really

guys wouldnt last a few weeks in american football without pads....thats why they wear them...they dont wear them because they are pansies...lol

Nobody suggested they did. I don't think it's a bad thing.

I think if Rugby was a newer sport, the might also wear padding. I think because Rugby is steeped in tradition, it's a very old sport and they just kept it the way it always has been. It wouldn't be received well by the purists if padding was introduced and rugby isn't really a sport that has casual fans anyway. Pretty much everyone that watches it are dedicated followers of it.

In the end, a man being tackled to the ground with impact is what it is. Just because it's in USA doesn't mean it's more hurtful haha. Rugby players are big strong athletic guys too. It's gonna hurt regardless. As i say, the padding is probably a smart move. It's just not part of Rugby.

The ignorance on here is astounding. I don't play Rugby myself, never got into it but i know plenty who play Rugby League. Their bodies are wrecked from it, ears and everything.

Tough old sport is that. The impacts are just as bad as American Football sometimes, but with no helmets, no padding, getting trampled on with boots and all sorts.

Played at a much higher pace too. NFL they stand around for ages, play for a few seconds and then go through it all again. Rugby is non-stop rough action.
the sheer physicality of the nfl dicates the pace most of the time...and often times teams go "no huddle" and push the pace in order to dictate pace and wear out a defense....but the sheer physicality of the NFL dicates that, without time off between plays, guys would die of exhaustion(not literally)....every year guys die, at the collegiate, high school and even pro level(much more rare...but look back at korey stringer) from just practicing in the extreme heat during preseason training camps......

Don't try and make it out that it's super tough because real football (you know, a game where the ball is in contact with the feet) is much tougher.

Americans gone soft, soon basketball players will need padding
LOL, soccer a tougher sport. A sports that guys pretend all the time to get hurt and then pop out running after the refs don't buy the act job.

i agree...rugby is a sport steeped in tradition..and it is very tough

but i guarantee you if you ask jarryd hayne which one is tougher..he will tell you american football...just the complexity of the playbook alone is enough to make it a more taxing sport....to understand the complexity of blitz pickups and responsiblities.....hayne said the playbook is insane...and im willing to bet he would tell you, physically, the nfl is tougher

            • hayne on the nfl

“For me, I get through sessions here a lot better,’’ Hayne said. “Still, it’s quite different on the joints, a lot harder because of the amount of force we put through our body.

“At one stage we trained eleven days straight. That was some of the craziest stuff I’ve ever done. Unbeliavble.

“It felt like I was in an army camp again it was so full on.

“We were literally running routes for eleven days straight. That stuff gets you fit.

A year ago, the 27-year-old could only bench press the NFL Combine weight of 102kg four times.

Yet so well has he responded to 49ers lifting regimens since, Hayne now boasts a PB of 22 repetitions, a mark that sits only one behind the best of all running backs at the 2015 Combine — and five off the record set six years ago.

Asked if he was born to play NFL, the 49ers rookie replied: “I definitely knew my body was more adapted to the grind of NFL. To the way it’s played.

what you should get from this is....greater force of impact in nfl...harder on joints

hayne was playing rugby and was probably 1/4 as fit as he was once he came to the nfl and got on an nfl weightlifting program.....

oh no! black eyes and broken noses! no way!?!?!?!? lol

joshua cant batter anything...he cant even get his promoter to want to make the wilder fight! tell hearn to grow a sack and joshua can get put to sleep
Again you assume that everyone who dedicates themselves to the sport of boxing actually makes it and goes on to become a world champion etc..... That's really not the case and that's where your thinking is flawed.

It's not Joshua's fault that Wilder and his rent boys want him to be paid a kings ransom to step in the ring. I don't blame you though, you american's can't help but be arrogant, entitled and claim your the best at everything. Tell us again how Lebron would be the best "soccer player" if he wanted or how the only sports your nation isn't good at are the ones you don't care about.... I could do with a laugh.

                  • Deontay is a giant. Even though he's not a bulky HW he has a wide frame, long arms and crazy height. Even tough guys who look for fights wouldn't go near him.

Has anyone seen Tyson Fury in person? He's even taller with longer reach. He must look like the mountain from game of thrones.

                      i dont assume everyone.....

but if you had 200 elite level athletes from the nfl..and another 150 from the nba...all dedicating themselves to boxing from an early age i bet at least 25 of them would be elite level HW boxers

you are assuming thats what i assumed...you are the flawed one....because you cant think critically

                      i pity you

no one thinks lebron would be the best "soccer player" ...because us normal people know his frame is not suited for that game you peon

we are talking about athletes who have HW frames ...god you are such dumb ****
