  • Comments Thread For: Atlas: Joshua's Handlers Should Keep Him Away From Wilder

Veteran trainer and ESPN expert analyst, Teddy Atlas, believes IBF, IBO, WBA, WBO heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (21-0, 20 KOs) should wait a little while longer before facing WBC champion Deontay Wilder (40-0, 39 KOs) in a full division unification.

Barry Hearn has said already, numerous times, that he wants to wait a while before fighting Wilder.

I'd be very surprised if it happens next, or even this year. Hope I am wrong.

I can’t take what he says seriously. He is right though Wilder is dangerous as hell but we will take our chances.......oh I pulled up some of your earlier comments .Please confirm if it is you in the video? Talking about his handlers should be arrested.smh. If Wilder let you anywhere near his camp you will be campaigning like a 13 year old girl cheerleader ,for the fight to be next

Correct, the plan is to wait but Eddie is all about appearances and social marketing so he needs to keep up the impression that they want the fight and are trying to negotiate. Notice how only Eddie and AJ are saying the fight is close to being made? It's so they can be the first to announce, "They're being unreasonable" and then move on to whatever fight they have planned.

Wilder has no money fights waiting. Fighting AJ is a no lose for him so of course he wants this. He knows better than to get ripped off though.

Hearn and Atlas are right on the money front it make no sense for AJ though the only option for Wilder.

.. but I think AJ and Eddie don't care they've always rolled the dice that's how they are where they are after 20 fights as opposed to 40.

I honestly think the fight is next or at least this year (I think there will be a rematch clause and I'm not sure how that works if AJ doesn't fight Povetkin first as that's how Tyson Fury lost the IBF he couldn't defend and rematch).
