How do you rate Lomachenko's defense?

As far as defensive skills goes how would you rate Loma's?
I would rate it an A / A-. Depending on the opponent he can be untouchable but Linares did show that he can also be hit.
Great defensive fighters like Pernell Whitaker and Andre Ward have been dropped occasionally as well. Hopefully the KD serves as a wake up call and Loma can use that as a learning experience to be more defensively responsible.

For someone as offensive as he is it is quite solid. He relies on angle changes, changing head slots, and probing as his primary form of defense.

Great defense! He took a lot of blows on his gloves. Sure he got caught, but he was slipping. Momentary lapse, and he paid for it.

He's terrific defensively. I can't believe how little he's hit considering the range he likes.

He was caught by a lot more than just the one right hand that sat him down. I haven’t seen too many fighters get hit with a 5 punch combo before.

If he fights on the inside, he can get careless at times but if he outboxes all day, he can be a huge pain to hit I reckon.

He’s very elusive. And look, getting caught and put down doesn’t mean you have bad defense. I mean, you’re in a fight, and he’s been fighting world class fighters. Plus when you’re as offensive as he is, you’re more vulnerable. The fact that he throws punches like he does, and still manages to avoid shots is impressive. But I’m curious to see what happens as he ages and his reflexes, speed and athleticism start to decline.

Yeah, but he was unfazed by that 5 punch flurry. He got hit, but he blocked a lot of shots on his gloves.

His defense is very good considering how aggressive he is. The guy is an absolute joy to watch especially considering he is fighting the best that will get in the ring with him. I think there is a good possibility he catches a second loss before his 20th fight. I dont think he is scared of losing, so he just goes for it.

He's very good considering he's in your grill the whole time and very offensive himself.

Often when he does get hit he is in his opponents chest so they can't get the best leverage on the shot.

But I can't say I've seen a fighter who never got hit that fights in the range that Loma does in.

Still, there is room for improvement.
