The Canelo/Golovkin saga has been a ****show for everyone

This has been going on for way too long, it has stalled both their careers and frustrated fans and boxers alike.

Golovkin has wasted critical years of his career bending over for Canelo and wasting away many opportunities to cement a legacy.

Canelo has also wasted years on this and has now destroyed his reputation with the clenbuterol scandal.

Fans have waited and waited; getting an uneventful draw in the first fight and a rematch which is now completely up in the air.

There are a bunch of great fights to be made with these two at MW with names like Saunders, Charlo, Derevyanchenko, Andrade, Murata and Jacobs. Yet it has all been swept under the rug in the name of business.

Both of them should do everyone a service and fight one of the above names before going for the rematch. Fans deserve it, boxers deserve it and the sport needs it.

We need the rematch next. We will see if Clenelo can take Gennadys power now without steroids.

Completely agree with this. It’s been very ugly.

Very much agree with you. I lay a lot of the blame on Golden Boy in how they handle things so far. I blame Loeffler in bending to their temper tantrums. I blame Canelo for ***ing up his reputation as a terrific fighter for getting caught with PEDs. And I also blame Golovkin for not stepping in and saying '*** it all, enough. I'm moving on'.

This has been a huge waste of 2 years, for the most part.

You are exaggerating and GGG hasn't done a damn thing wrong. He has not wasted all this time on Canelo. He already fought tough Jacobs in his back yard and defeated him by UD. Then he fought Canelo who was his top challenger in a fight that made him a ton of money. What's wrong with that? He is a prize fighter who fights for money just like every other prize fighter. The fight was a draw and a rematch was called for and made for the 5th of May. There is nothing wrong with GGG doing that either. Then Canelo fails the tests and calls off the fight and that isn't GGG's fault. GGG still wants to fight somebody on May 5th so they offer top 10 rated middleweight Spike about 225thousand dollars to fight him but he turns it down to sign with Golden Boy. Vanes offers to fight for that same 225thousand. GGG might fight Canelo in a rematch in September for big money. I want to see that rematch and GGG has every right to make another huge payday when he gets the opportunity to do so. No other boxer turns down huge paydays for legacy's sake so why should GGG be required to do so. There is a strong possibility than Canelo will refuse to enroll in Vada and there will be no rematch. Canelo will then probably fight Spike in September and GGG will fight a good opponent not named Canelo. GGG is a good champion and I support him if he rematches Canelo or if he fights Murata, Jacobs, Jermall or the Russian. He can't fight everybody his critics want him to fight all at the same time.

Good post but I'm sure you can imagine how hard it would be to pass up like 20 million to fight other guys for probably 3 million in fights that may be just as tough. At GGG age, I can't blame him or his team for wanting these paydays. He waited a long time for someone with a big name to give him a shot.
