Mikey Garcia ducked Linares at end of 2017

    October 2017
    WBC orders Linares-Garcia

The WBC has officially ordered its lightweight ‘diamond’ champion Jorge Linares (43-3, 27 KOs) to take on its world titleholder Mikey Garcia (37-0, 30 KOs), in a bout that would have both titles on the line, as reported by Sky Sports.

Both camps are reportedly already in contact with one another but it remains to be seen if Garcia, after moving up to junior welterweight to face Adrien Broner in July, intends to move back down to compete at lightweight going forward. He did, after all, just recently call out Miguel Cotto for a fight at 154lbs.

Mikey Garcia turns down unification bout with Jorge Linares

WBC Lightweight Champion Mikey Garcia has once again declined to fight WBA champ Jorge Linares, stating that he received a better offer elsewhere. Golden Boy claims that they offered Garcia a 50-50 split without the long-term contract that sank negotiations the first time around, but it still wasn’t enough to sway him.

Garcia did not say who he’s fighting instead, but it’s likely to be Robert Easter Jr. Golden Boy president Eric Gomez says that Eddie Hearn has made a “huge offer” to pit Linares against Luke Campbell in an excellent rematch and that Linares intends to fight in January on HBO.

It’s a shame to see two phenomenally talented fighters in their primes not fight one another, but at least the alternatives are pretty darn good matchups. So it goes in this ridiculous sport we love.

Linares had a choice. He agreed to fight Garcia and then backed out and fought Loma. He explained why last night.

Linares in an interview aired just before Linares-Lomachenko = "Mikey is a more dangerous fight (than Lomachenko) for me"

No he didn’t. Back in Nov 2017 Loma wasn’t even in the discussion for 135.

Mikey pulled out of the fight.

What does this prove? Linares says he considers the Garcia fight to be more dangerous. Where the hell does he admit to being the one pulling out of the Fight?

Go back to being a ****** Robbie, it comes to you naturally.

Why are you talking about **** you haven't followed? Everyone knew about this. Mikey was complaining in interviews posted on youtube that he and Linares had already agreed to fight.

Here's an article from the beginning of the year.

"I went over and sat down with Golden Boy and Eric Gomez and discussed the possibility of that fight for January 20th or 27th, but Eric also suggested it should be on a different date," he exclusively told Sky Sports

"January is not the right month and that is why we have both decided to take an interim fight. We both want this fight, we both want to fight each other, so why not take advantage and wait a few months and generate more money and interest than we would have in January?

"That is why we have both decided to take an interim fight. He's taking on (Mercito) Gesta on January 27, I'm taking on (Sergey) Lipinets on February 10, so when these are done we will sit down again. It is still the goal.

"Hopefully we don't have any injuries or cuts and we both come out clean and healthy from these fights and we both have victories. Then we can meet in the summer. That's the fight everyone wants to see and it's a fight that makes sense. I know Jorge is excited to get into the ring with me, I am excited to get in the ring with him this year.

"Let's hope everything goes down well, let's pray to the boxing gods that there's no more interruptions and no other politics get in the way, and let's make these fights the fans really want to see."

              Sit yourself down ******.

I don’t care what Mikey said this year. End of 2017 it was a “not enough money” issue. Do I give a **** about his excuses two months later? Absolutely not.

Excuses? That was him telling you they had agreed to fight. Linares chose the less dangerous Lomachenko. So it was in fact Linares that ducked Garcia. Your thread and you are ******ed. Know the topic you're discussing.
